NoJoMo 9

Today should have been a happy day, filled with good…Instead it was a stressful day, filled with stress.

Before even 9 o’clock I got a phone call from the school…I had to go and get Harley.
The story goes…Harley was in the hall, with the classroom pass, which is on a long string. He was wrapping the string around his neck.
Charlie told him not to do it, as he could hurt himself. Harley freaked out and ran off to the bathroom.
The janitor heard him in there screaming, and told the principal. The principal went to see what was going on.
At that point, Harley was locked in a stall, shoes and pants off. He said he was going the bathroom. When he was done, he bolted from the stall, and ran down to the principals office.
Once there, he was trying to strangle himself with the cord again, and the principal tried to take it way from him…Harley swung at him a couple times, and apparently told him he was going to kill him. *sigh*
This results in Harley with a 5 day suspension. What makes it worse…It’s a week that he has to go to his father’s house…So for those days, he’s stuck there!
I don’t even want to think of the nightmare that he’s going to be dealing with for that time.

On a separate note…I do not believe I am going to make NaNoWriMo. Which is disappointing, but there were too many days were I didn’t get any words & too many days were I didn’t get minimum numbers…I had plans to attempt to catch up today…I haven’t even attempted writing because nothing went right.

Sonja came home sick too.
I’ve got 44 cupcakes, since Harley didn’t get to share them with class.

I’m so tired…All I want to do is take a long, long nap.

Suspensions are BS for multiple reasons. In-school suspensions I get, because the kid still has to go to school and do work…just away from the distractions of others, but sending them home and keeping them there won’t improve their behaviour. That’s been well argued by behavioural specialists. Plus, some kids don’t see staying at home as a punishment. Some kids don’t really have great home situations (and I mean even worse than the Idiot). I am lucky that at both my Aboriginal Choice school and at Montessori, they practice restorative justice. It’s tough as a teacher to have a kid flip out and to keep him in the class and to take the time to really discuss and address the problem, but it’s worth it. Curse the lack of public Montessori Schools in the world (because I bet both your Critters would flourish in Montessori). Curse the whole school system. On the bright side, you can drown your sorrows in cupcakes 🙂
