Letterboxing…

It is like the granddaddy of geocaching. It lacks the little ‘trinkets’ to trade with found caches, but doesn’t require the expense of a GPS.
Though on our first attempt today we totally missed the letterbox and found someone’s geocache instead! *laughs* Was wishing for a trinket to make a trade with…As the Critters (especially Harley) really wanted to do so.

With letterboxing, the box has a rubber stamp in it, and a log book. The person/people doing the hunting have a log book and a rubberstamp(s). When you find a box you put the boxes stamp in your log book, and your stamp in the boxes log book. The people doing the looking have special names as well.
Well, as the whole household has gotten into it, we each have our own name, plus a group name. We as a collective whole are ‘The Nightwalkers’ (after a few ideas vetoed by the boy…He’s a pickie Critter sometimes)…I is ‘Midnight Fey’…Sonja is ‘Fern of cat clan’…Harley is ‘Shadow’ (seriously, are we surprised? *laughs*)…Mum is ‘Wood Elf’.
Also…We have our group log book…And, aside from that, I made ‘passports’ for everyone to keep track of the things we do this summer, and the places we go…Well, decided that we could also stamp them each time we find a box as well. *smiles*

Like I said, our first attempt, we didn’t find the box we were looking for, but did find someone’s geocache. [And although we didn’t find a box with a stamp, we did have an extra stamp on hand, so we stamped our books, as well as stamping their log book.]
Second & third attempts were much of the success!
Fourth attempt failed…But we still had lots of fun.

All and all…It was a very much good day. *nods* *smiles*
Was also my birthday. So it was a good birthday.
