I still want to sleep…So tired…
Let’s see…Newness…
A brief trip back to school things…Half the grades are officially in…& I’ve got one more from online grade book comparison to the syllabItus.
Linguistics: 3.5 (Which my Professor had told me when I went to pick up my research paper)
American Lit: 3.0 (Which I’m fine with, it’s much better than the 2.5 I got in British Lit last semester)
Mythology: 3.5 (Though not officially posted, that is what I’m figuring it should be from the info I have)
French: … Grade not in yet. (Grades aren’t due until the 11th…I’m hoping I manage to scrape a 2.0…As long as I pass, that is all that matters at this point.)
Other things…
Got a text Saturday afternoon…Someone busted out Wasil’s driver side window, stole his stereo and gps from his car. *frowns*
He’s replaced the gps, he needs it for work.
He didn’t have the window fixed Sunday and had to let someone else take one of his calls, as his car couldn’t be considered ‘secure’ with a window missing.
I think the loss of the stereo hurts him the most…It wasn’t your run of the mill cd/stereo that you can pick up just about anywhere that sells them. This thing…*shakes head* I think it uses some kind of SD card, I’m not even sure…But it holds mega amount of music in it, & not only music, but videos & movies! I watched Resident Evil 2 on the way down to St. Louis the first time on it. So yeah…Not something that is easily replaced, or cheaply.
Harley’s fieldtripness!
I think I’m still tired. *laughs* He’s still sleeping anyway.
His class has a 3 day, 2 night trip…But the rule is that anyone who has a suspension during the year can’t go on overnight fieldtrips…So he couldn’t stay over.
But, his teacher wanted him to be able to at least take part on one day, so we got that set up, and went to Mackinac City with the class yesterday.
We went to the Mill, the Lighthouse & the Fort.
With my help, when it came to the naturalists talk at the mill, Harley was calling out the names of the types of animals that the pelts they had were of. We’d gone last year, but Harley still liked seeing it all again. He wants to go back and to the zip lines, they aren’t old enough to do them with the school at this point. At one point Mrs. Puroll told them if they go back to do the zip lines when they are older to take her with them & told them if they go to D.C. for their senior trip, take her too. *laughs* [She is really a lot better than I thought initially when Sonja had her for a teacher.]
After the Mill we went to the picnic area by the Lighthouse…I ended up walking a perimeter around my table, attempting to keep my squishies safe from the seagulls while they tried to eat. They were awful, but only at our table! There was something like 10 adults & 18 kids…We took up 3 picnic tables, ours was away from the group, and got all the birds. It had started out just me and Harley, but then 4 of the girls from his class came over to where we were. One of them was Annabelle…She’s Sonja’s ‘little puppy’. She’s a sweetie. And I think we were all threatening the seagulls with becoming a food source. After a bit one of the other chaperones came over and managed to chase the seagulls back a bit further (I don’t blame them, he’s big & kind of scary). Seriously, these birds *shakes head* I was literally only a foot from them, that is how close I could get, and sometimes that was while they were in flight even! It was crazy!
Anyway…After the fight with pre-hotwings…We went to the Lighthouse. Which Harley was a bit freaked about first climbing the stairs (which I should of gotten pictures of, but honestly didn’t think about till now) & then the ladder that led to where the light use to be kept. The stairs and narrow and circular, and on the ladder is about 6 foot…But he did good & did better on the way down. *smiles* I was worried he would get bored while the other groups were up checking out the lighthouse tower (it’s a tiny, tiny space), but nope, there was enough in the house part to keep him happy. They have some interactive stuff, which he loved. [He even did good sitting through the three movies they showed – one at each location- that talked about the history of the places.]
Then it was on to the Fort…Where we all split into groups. I got one of Mrs. Puroll’s kids for the time there, as I only had Harley (since I was leaving afterwards with him), and he wanted to go with Harley. We had to of ran across the full length of the Fort at least 4 times…And when I say ran, I mean ran.
After a couple trips around, I think we managed to see every building. Harley and Kenny first kept returning to one of the canons that they could get to, and pretend to be shooting at the enemy…Then they kept returning to the one building. It had interactive stuff…Part of which was a dice game & the other uniforms. Harley kept dressing up like a British soldier, which he has declared he wants to be for Halloween.
There was also a simulation of what they called ‘The Black Hole’…It’s where they would punish soldiers who did something majorly wrong…It was pretty much a hole in the floor they would stuff you in and shut the door, totally blackness (though the simulation is more like stepping into a closet with no light). I ended up stuffing a few kids in there and holding the door shut. *laughs* The one time I had 4 or 5 of them in there, as we had run into another group when we were in there. But they were enjoying themselves. I lost track of how many times I stuffed Harley & Kenny in there, as they kept returning to it. *shakes head* *laughs* Strange, strange, squishies.
Needless to say, it wore me out. But it was a good wearing out…I had lots of fun…& Harley had lots of fun (which is the really important thing). *smiles*
I think we are just going to take it easy today.
Gonna have to get a hold of the Idiot and see if he just wants Sonja to come here after school Wed. then he can pick them both up here or what, since Harley won’t be at the school, and it’s unfortunately his week-end to have them. Blah.
All of this & I forgot to take a bloody camera with me! I had the thought, that morning before leaving the house even! I was thinking, should I take the Elf’s camera, or should I take Sonja’s…Then I walk off without either! *headdesk* I did have my phone, of course, which does have a camera, thankfully…So it wasn’t a trip totally without pictures. & Actually, they look like they came out pretty good.
So…I think that’s about it for the moment.
Yay for field trips! I’m glad you all had a great time. And as for seagulls, ugh, we have them here. They hang outside of a local supermarket complex that has a Mc Donalds in it. You can’t sit outside and “enjoy” your food without them attacking you. They literally fly at you to knock the food out of your hand. They really should fly off to the ocean where they belong. **giggles**

Oh! And good grades. Let’s hope that the “2.0” is really a 3.0 or higher! =D

Congrats on the grades thus far. I’m glad you all had fun on the field trip. I think the use of this “Black Hole” should be reinstated in certain situations. *laughs* ♥

I love St Louis, I haven’t been there in a few years and I’m longing to go back. Especially to have a steak at Mike Shannon’s.
