Ego Boost…

We’ll start back with Creative Assignment #1 (Which can be seen in the college chapter under ‘Her Childhood Home’. My teacher didn’t care for it. L It was suppose to be; take a memory, write it out, expand it into a page or two of writing.
He liked the memory part of it…But not so much the expansion part. It went vampirey…And apparently he thinks there is too much vampire in writing today. [Which is kind of funny, since Ren from today seems to want more vampire in writing & movies.] Admittedly, when I got the first assignment back I was quite disheartened.

Assignment #2. We were suppose to be showing rather than telling about a character. It was also the first one that we workshopped, and had other people in the class read. The teacher liked it better, it fulfilled the requirements of the assignment. Those who read it, some of them wrote a lot of comments, pretty much generic…Mostly because they were plopped down in the middle of the scene, and knew nothing of the background of the characters. Though the one that read it just said he really liked it.

Assignment #3…Haven’t gotten the teachers comments on it yet…Probably either Monday or Wednesday (except I’m not planning on being there Wednesday, as Harley has a field trip, and he needs me more than the students in my class do). We had in-class peer workshop today…Poor guys, had to read 9 ½ pages. *laughs* Anyway…They really didn’t have a whole lot to say, which I’m taking as a good thing. The two that were reading my paper…Ren (as mentioned above), who, from observation hiding in my corner, I’ve learned was in the teacher’s Honours English class last year, and also learned that he works in the Writing Centre (so it’s pretty much his job to read papers and point out what’s wrong, what needs fixed, and all that good stuff)…The other was a Bill, whom is one of the two or three guys in the class that were let in under special circumstances, because the teacher knew what kind of writer’s they were, and wanted them in the class. They both really only had to say that more scenery detail would be helpful. Which, yeah, they are right. I yanked it from roleplay, and in the mid of Azi’s…So it’s assumed readers have an idea of what’s going on, and where everyone is at. The only other was wanting a bit more foreknowledge of the characters…But as it seems to come out of a chapter in the middle of a pre-existing storyline (which, for the most part, yeah, it does), they could see there such knowledge would have been presented beforehand, and it really wasn’t a big issue either. So yeah…I’m feeling quite good about how things went today.

Ren…He said he was actually glad to see someone writing in the fantasy genre…As he feels a lack of, particularly vampires, in the current mainstream. Which, under most circumstance, probably wouldn’t of had the vampire in there, but it just so happened that the two scenes I yanked from roleplay were when Azi was at Obeah, and had Cain LeBeau in them. Yeah Cain! You served a purpose! *laughs* He also really liked Romulus (the first one), as he came off as a really nice guy. Which, yeah, despite being a bit of a monster three nights a month, he’s really a sweetie. [Thought the whole wet-dog smell comment after getting caught in the rain, and trying to dry out was funny as well…Yeah…Go read Azi’s diary if you need reminded! *laughs* No, seriously though…I might put up the rewrite in the college chapter after the teacher gets done with it. Should put assignment #2 in there too…It’s just Azi & Romulus talking, but it’s all goods. *nods*]

After the meeting last night, I’m kinda wishing I’d been able to pull off an Honours contract with one of my teachers…But I was still a bit shaky with my thoughts on Creative Writing, and I’m not sure what I would do anyway…And I wasn’t really sure what I could come up with for either Drawing II or Life Drawing…And I don’t think I want to get into anything complicated with 2-D Design…Although I’m quite pleased with how my current project is coming along.

Working a bit backwards…We had to take a black and white photo, blow it up, concentrate on the black areas and white areas…Cut out the most connected of the bunch, and settle it on the opposite colour of paper as to whatever the colour is that you kept. Mine is a racoon…He’s tre cutes. [Yeah…I so need to get pictures of stuff up.] He’s not quite done yet, as we’re suppose to crop and mount them…Not sure the details on it, so that’ll have to wait till tomorrows.

Back to meeting last night…Which was the Phi Theta Kappa…Or…The International Honours Society. I’m not sure how involved I’m going to be, as I am not going to take away time from the Critters for such…But I think I might do something on occasion if it doesn’t get in the way.

Speaking of Critters…Hopefully Harley stay to school all day. Dan got him yesterday. L Not impressed with that. I didn’t get a call today…No blocked calls on the home phone, and no calls on the cell. Harley best be getting off the bus tonight.

Furnace is toast. *kicks it* Going to get a slightly used one for $500.00. (Which after a new chimney & labour is going to be more like $1000.00. Which he wants $500.00 down, and will allow a month for us to pay the rest. Got to do it…We need heat.)

I should be getting my Financial Aid refund check shortly, but apparently it’s pretty much all spent. *sigh* I had hoped for a couple ‘fun’ things from it. *sigh* But…House payment is going to be put on hold for furnace…Property taxes were due Sept. 14th…So such is going to have to come out of said check. L
I had been toying with the idea of getting an i-Pod or MP3 player…But with serious thought today, I really don’t need one. *has laptop* *has CD player in Appa*

The one thought I DO want to still do, if I can talk boy into it. I want to take Todd out somewhere…Dinner, movie, something…Actually going out, out. Not something we’ve really had much of a chance to do.

Zetsu & Tobi are huddled together, probably freezing. Poor little rats. *huggles them both*

Mum is suppose to be stopping by her mother’s house to see about borrowing an electric heater that the old woman got, a year or two ago, and has yet to even use! [She ‘can’t’ figure out how…Um…Take it out of the box, plug it in, turn it on. Not that bloody hard.]

Think that’s about it for the moment. *scrambles deep under the depths of blankies in an attempt to keep warm*

Overall, it seems you’re doing really well in Creative Writing. *nods* I would kick the furnace, but I might hurt my toe. *lol* Admittedly, though, I would probably be enjoying the lack of heat…you know me, I adapted very well to MI weather. Hehe. Bills, bills, bills…blah on them! I think going out with Todd would be a nice idea. *nods* Couples do need to spend time outside the house, otherwise things lose spark. For instance, I don’t want to be an old married couple before it’s my time! *lol* *HUGS*

OOO a date with Todd. Stupid heater. The solution is simple…burn things don’t have a fireplace? no problem, simply light a fire in the middle of the floor and cut a hole in the roof. Scavenge wood from the local furniture factory, stairway part factory, lumber yard, neighbour etc. and you’re good to go all winter.
