An Amazing Experience!

I’m fading fast again, but I wanted to write about tonight’s class…

I was near dead tired when I got to class, lack of proper sleep & what not, and really just wanted to curl up in a corner and go to sleep.
She started class by having us take a walk outside and look for beautiful things. The walk did me some good, & I was feeling more awake when we got back inside.

We played with yarn…I’m sure there was something else…There was a lot of playing with yarn though. *laughs*
We tried to do cat’s cradle…Not a stunning success. Between Maria & I, we did manage to get through one loop of it.
I ended up trying to sketch out the stages on the board and explain how to grasp the strings.

We only have 7 people in class to begin with…3 of them were missing tonight.
This week’s lesson plans were suppose to be Math & Music, so we all went through those.
I did one with addition/subtracion & The Ants Go Marching…Which everyone seemed to adore The Ants Go Marching. *laughs*

Then…I didn’t present my lesson plan last week, as we ran out of time. So I presented it tonight.
It’s the one I’ve been calling my ‘controversial’ lesson plan. Where I have cleverly changed the words "Shamanic Journey" to "Guided Meditation" to make it more adminastration & parent friendly. *grins* Yes…I’m feeling the Trickster, even if it’s only a bit of a tweak in wording.
I talked about how I thought it would be a good experience for the students to actually get to experience a piece of a culture while we were studying it.
Gave the quick defintion of what a spirit gaurdian is, even using the ‘it can be compared to a gaurdian angel’ thought, which is part of the making it more parent/administration friendly too.
Then…The teacher asked if I was willing to go through it with them. O.o Admittedly, I’ve never been on THAT end of things, but what of the class was there was game for it, and I had the music on my phone…So I went for it. It was amazing!

I was so worried that they wouldn’t ‘go’ or ‘see’ or ‘experience’…But…Yeah…They all went with it, and met up with their spirit guardian.
I think Liz might have felt a bit bad about not getting to tell hers good-bye. It actually kind of spooked her and she sat up and opened her eyes.
Maria was slightly spooked too, I think, as she came face to face with an animal she’s not fond of…
& I think Linea was left slightly bewildered, as hers came across a bit differently…But still they all seen/experienced something.
I feel so accomplished being able to share this experience with them…Aside from Me & Kat (our teacher), none of them had every done anything like this before.
I could feel my coyote sitting there with me, watching over how things were going. I was nervous, and my voice wasn’t as strong as it could have been…But still…*squee*

It was just an amazing experience.
&…No homework, so that’s always a plus. *laughs*

So yeah…Tiredness…Up in less than 5 hours…But get to see Critters…& no class or plans for tomorrow…So napping/sleep will be in there somewhere.
Although…If the rain allows it…I want to get outside…I want to run (if possible, tho my ankle isn’t so sure it’s a good idea)…Or, maybe get outback, tho I’m not sure what is going on in the lines of hunting seasons currently…I’m guessing my long brown coat would NOT be a good idea.

Wonderful that they were all game for the Shamanic Journeying and that it worked out so well for them all. 🙂 Very cool. Light of heart,

That’s fun. I’ve spent a good deal of time debating the meditation thing in my education classes. I think next year I would like to start doing shamanic journeys with my derby team. We get so frazzled. I think a little talk with our spirit guides before the game and half time would do good.

ryn: Indeed. I skate much better when I have a spirit guse with me. I don’t know how many players would be willing to try it though. At least a few would. Bahaha…it would be AMAZING if we all did it.
