A week in review…This may get long.

*blinks* *looks around* Where did this last week go? It was around here somewhere, I’m fairly certain of it anyway. *shrugs* Oh well, time to play catch up. O.o

Monday: Ug…Went to the college bookstore to pick up my books. OMGs! It was the first day that financial aid could be used, on top of that they had told anyone who came in earlier and put their books on hold that they had to pick them up on that day too. [I don’t think they will be doing that again.] It was insane! I stood in line for an hour and a half! *falls over* I don’t know whether there was something wrong with the air conditioning, if it wasn’t on, or if there were just too many bodies there for it to do any good. It was hot, and just UG! Sonja went with me, so she had to try and keep herself entertained while I stood in line. She actually did fairly well (Gods I’m so grateful Harley had declared he wanted to stay home…It would of been awful to have to keep him entertained for that long of time). & while she was wandering around she found a backpack that she wanted for school this year. [O.o She’s all of a sudden all about orange. *shakes head* Her backpack is black and orange, the outfit she’s wearing the first day of school is orange, her notebooks, pencils, pencil case, etc., etc.]

Anyway…18 books! 5 classes, and I have 18 books! & tech. that is only 4 classes…I don’t know if I’m going to need a sketchbook for Pottery II like we did for Pottery or not, I’ll have to wait until the first day and we get the syllabus.

Abnormal Psychology: 1 book.

Adolescence/Cultural Diversity: 7 books! A couple of them sound like they could be interesting. *shrugs* We’ll see. Syllabus & schedule will be up 5 days before classes start. This is the online class. I just need to keep myself focused. [& convince myself that the 2+ hours I have on Tues & Thurs between classes is actually the time this class is scheduled to be. Hopefully I’ll be using the almost 2 hours on Mon & Wed to be in the dark room…I want to do the whole rent the dark room thing. I haven’t taken as many pictures as I wanted this summer…But there are a few reasons for that one…1.) I don’t like having to take my film in and hand it over to someone else, 2.) It’s evil to have to pay them to develop my film & print my pictures & 3.) I’m seriously missing black & white film I think.]

Contemporary Ethical Dilemmas: 3 books. One of them is a book they turned into a movie just recently…’My Sister’s Keeper’. It’s not my usual fare…But I must admit I thought the movie might be worth seeing…Though I never did go and see it. *shrugs* Guess there was a reason for that. *pokes at book* It’s so thick. *falls over* *laughs*

Detective Fiction: 7 books! (Yesh, 7 again.) 2 Dick Tracy (not thrilled, but the one is all comics), Sherlock Holmes (which I’ve never really given much thought too…Although the movie they have coming out actually looks interesting. But I’d wager a guess that the Sherlock Holmes of books & the one in this particular movie are way different. *laughs*). I know I will be keeping one of the books though…’The Murders in the Rue Morgue’. *grins* Yesh! Edgar Allan Poe…I was much hoping, but not holding my breath that this would be amongst the stack of books. *huggles book* It will be my friend. I might even dip into it before school…If I can manage to tear myself away from evil Farmville on Facebook. [It’s EVIL! EVIL I tell you!]

Sonja & I also went to Grand Traverse Commons (formerly The State Hospital…aka the insane asylum). I had promised to get her ice cream there. There is a place called Sweet Asylum. We got ice cream and some bulk candy…Salt water taffy! Yummies!

Tuesdays & Thursdays are pretty much shot from now on. Can’t do anything away from the house unless we are guaranteed to make it back by 5:30. Harley started soccer. He’s had 2 practices so far. He seems to be having fun with it though. *smiles* So he’s doing okay, which I am glad of. The coach is the kindergarten teacher’s husband…& apparently their son is either on the team or goes to the practices, so Harley gets to play with him.

Wednesday…I can’t really recall. Though it included going to the lake for a little bit so the Critters could play in the water.

Friday: A day to remember. *laughs*
We went to Mackinac Island. Part of the reason was to letterbox, but it kind of got put on hold. *shakes head at self* We did find 2…And while at the first one I realized…I forgot to pack the ink! *headdesk* I did the best I could to sketch out what the stamps should of looked like (which I still need to do for the passport books).
We rented what they call an ‘adult stroller’…Which is actually just a plastic chair seat that they hooked up to some wheels…Since we figured it was the best way to get around the island without wearing Harley out. & it did actually work quite well. On top of that, it really did cost that much!
We seen a couple of the sites…Wandered briefly though the fort on the island (it was the one spot it would of been better not to have the stroller as an extra), also Fort Holmes…Which isn’t much more than a circle wall of dirt with a doorway. *laughs* (It’s also in area that the first letterbox was hidden.)
Went to see Skull Cave (which Sonja had been hopeful for, but was slightly disappointed as it doesn’t look like a skull & you can’t get up to it anymore.
Wandered through a cemetery, which is where the second letterbox was at, sort of (it was actually hidden behind a wall on the outside of the actual cemetery).
Went to one of the two butterfly houses…I’ve got some video (though it’s really hard to capture butterflies in flight), Mum got some pictures. I bought stickers from the gift shop to put in the passport books.
Did some souvenir shopping…Harley & Sonja both got Webkins (Sonja a cat, Harley a fish)…Harley also got a Jacob’s ladder toy, and a bow & arrow set…Sonja got a little voodoo guy (so did I! He’s soooo cute & hooked to my wallet currently). &, of course, FUDGE! Yummies! [While at the fudge shop the lady behind the counter told the Critters they could each have 2 pieces of salt water taffy a piece for free.]
Ate dinner at 8 PM, then came home and crashed. *falls over*

Saturday: Ran errands…Got Harley his backpack for school.

Sunday: Tried to go see Mum’s friends llamas, but Karen wasn’t home…*shrugs*
Checked on a Winnebago we seen sitting at the one car lot…Now we are much of the wishings we could actually get it. Mum wants to get a little motorhome or travel trailer or something like that. Sonja said if we had the Winnebago we could go camping in the winter too. *laughs*

It’s 8:00 and the Critters are still here. Dan had said something when I picked them up last week about trading off some days, but I didn’t get it completely and he hadn’t mentioned it since. So I called hi

m to find out what is what. Apparently hippo & crew (aside from him) are going to be gone, & somewhere along the way he got a job, [Sonja says he’s a cleaning woman. *laughs* Apparently, from what I gather, he’s working as a janitor at the school in Mancelona.] and no one would be there to watch Sonja & Harley Monday-Wednesday. When I called I had it so I would have to go in and pick them up at 6 AM, but the schedule would still be the norm. He called back saying something about not being able to do that, because he had other things he had to do. *rolls eyes* I told him I had made plans and needed the Critters Monday & Wednesday…So…I’m keeping them till Wednesday of this week. He’s coming and getting them at 6 PM on Wednesday. Come next Monday I get to pick up the Critters (probably about noon) & then bring them back when we are done doing what we are doing. [We didn’t get to do the fort on the mainland or the mill Friday, so I figured we could go up there Monday to do them.]
Then I can go get them Wednesday after Mum gets done with her MARVIN phone call, and gets to keep them. I’ll have them until Sunday (two weeks from today)…Which means I’ll still have them for both days of the ComicCon with no troubles (aside from Harley possibly getting worn out that first day).

It’s two weeks till the first day of college for the year (as of tomorrow). Detective Fiction @ 1:00 (I think I’m suppose to go in at noon to meet up with James for lunch)…Abnormal Psychology at 4:20.
I’ve changed my mind about what I was going to wear on the first day…Didn’t want to fight with ‘L’ hair first thing. *laughs* So now I’m back to not having a clue as to what I’m going to wear.

Okay…This is probably really long…& I’m wanting to dip into the fudge in the fridge…I can hear it calling me! *laughs*

ok .. so I didn’t finish the note before i signed it .. your classes this semester seem interesting .. what are you going for? We signed Talan up for soccer – well its like basic soccer they teach them the basics – I don’t think they do go games or anything. He hasn’t started yet – but we hope it’ll help him run off some of his energy.

Half read – My Sisters Keeper is an amazing book, I’ve read it several times. You’ll love it. The end is just… takes your breath away. I’ll go back to reading now!

Sounds like you’ve been keeping yourself really busy! And having fun doing it. Whereas I’ve been mainly sitting around doing nothing! But it’s been fun nonetheless! Seriously though, I love Jodi Picoult. I have all of her books, they all have that sort of theme running through them, a moral dilema of some sort. Enjoy it! xxx

Those sound like fun classes. Jodi Picoult books always seem to be in bookswaps at hostels. Not my usual far eaither, but I still rather enjoyed the books (haven’t read My Sister’s Keeper yet. Ha, you went from a cememtary and a place called Skull Cave, to butterfly gardens. Not quite sure why I find that so amusing.
