A letter from camp…and other things.

I got this letter in the mail yesterday, about Sonja’s experience at camp, and it nearly made me cry.

Greetings from Camp Newago! My name is Carolyn Gallmeyer and I was Sonja’s LIT (leader in training) at camp this week. I’m writing to give you a bit of a diffrent perspective on Sonja’s experience at camp this week, and to tell you how much I enjoyed having her as part of cabin 1.

Sonja started out the week a little shaky- the first time I saw her she was bawling and refusing to go up on her bed because it was too high. In fact, she only said one word to me at a time. This period of few words lasted for a very, very short time. 🙂 Probably my biggest joy in cousuling Sonja this week was seeing her come out of her shell so much. About half way through the week a girl swimming at dip with Sonja turned to me while I was lifegaurding and said "How come everyone knows Sonja?" And they knew her on the waterfront when she won her Polar Bear award. And in the craft shop where she did he first activity period, and I can say from personal experience that she was very animated and excited. And in music, where she was always loud (in a good way), and even got to perform in front of the whole camp for the talent show.

Sonja was also very helpful on our campout. She gathered wood like a champ, and never complained about the less-than-perfect hotdogs. And though she was the youngest camper, we were able to put her in the tent without counselors for all of the "bravest" girls.

Sonja was just a joy to have this week- She did as she was told, she generally had a positive attitude, she showed considerable leadership for the youngest girl on our campout, and she showed such a sense of confidence and fun by the end of the week that it was hard not to catch on with the others in the cabin. Thank you for sending her to camp, and I hope to see her next year!

Best Wishes,
Carolyn Gallmeyer

Makes me even happier that we could manage to send her. And I know she wants to go back. She’s been wishy-washy only on whether it should be one or two weeks! It’s good to know that her inner self can shine through though. I wish I could manage to get mine to come out.

Yesterday…Well the stupid pet forgot to go to work. *rolls eyes* He told his boss he hurt his back over the week-end. First I’d heard of it. Upon waking up, he sat his butt down in the chair and proceeded to become extremely annoying. He yelled at Harley for something, I can’t remeber what now, and then didn’t understand why he would come to him. The only thing he did do was give me his ATM card to run in and get milk and ice cream, but that’s only because he wanted it. Mum figures it’s been something like six weeks since he’s contributed to the household. So we are on a grocery strike. I’m buying stuff day by day, for the most part, to feed us and the kids, and he can bloody well go without. I still haven’t got whatever it is I need to just tell him to go away. It’s hard…I’ve never been overly assesertive most of the time, only in rare instances…and it scares the hell of out me to even think about trying to be.

Went to the beach again yesterday…as I’m sure it was hot enough to melt the tar on the road. Got wet upto my waist. I was so tired though that it was hard to stand in the water. A couple times I thought I was going to fall down. We’d picked up mini air matress things for the kids on the way. I ended up sitting on one of them attempting not to put all my weight on it so it wouldn’t sink. I ended up sitting on the shore on one with my feet in the water. I’ve got red splotches on my back…or is it white splotches. We’ve been using that spray on sun-block, and I guess I didn’t do a very good job of getting my back sprayed.

We are suppose to go check out Sand Lake today (since we didn’t yesterday because Mum didn’t want to come home and have to deal with the stupid pet. But said stupid pet’s trunk didn’t start this morning, so he had to take her Jeep to work, as it was the only other thing here. Needless to say she’s not happy about that at all. We’ve got to figure out a way to get it so we can go to Sand Lake…can’t take the car down the road to it.

I was hoping for more notes on the rpg entry for today…It’s Severus’s return…and a heartbreaking bit. Tomorrows, which shall entertain our own Arwen, I’m sure…the first installment of Mutt Love! *laughs* Gods…How I want that man…*sigh* Someone get him for me as a present? Please? I promise, I’ll take really good care of him. *smiles*

Ug…I’ve got to call and cancell on Libby…Can’t walk in this heat. Just being out in it yesterday about did me in. I know at one point I was getting dehydrated. Though skipping the juices and going for nothing buy pure water seemed to help quite a bit.

There was a big green bug in here last night…Not sure where it went now…It was quite noisy at one point.
Also when we got home, Mum found a baby racoon hiding behind our front door…IN the house. It took a bit, but we got it back out.

There was also a loverly blow up showing the pet’s stupidity. We had the inside front door shut, since the screendoor had to be shut anyway. Thing in, the stupid dog he had before ripped the screen off the door, so now all that’s there is the glass, and we can’t raise it up, or the bugs, and from the looks of it, racoons, would get in. So there wasn’t going to be any air getting in that way…besides all the air outside was HOT anyway still. Plus we did have the window open with a fan sitting in it. Well the pet makes some remark about it being so hot and having the door shut. And Mum replies with the fact that it has no screen so the air wouldn’t get in, and he goes off, saying something about her being the smartest person in the house, or knowing everything or something…I can’t remeber what now…Only that it showed how bloody ignorant and stupid he is.

Well…I think that about covers everything…Aside from wanting a body to play with…but I don’t even want to get into that currently. Blah. *sigh* *headdesk*

Okay..apprently, my Critters have found a ladybug…deemed it a male…and named it Cole. O.o *shakes head* Not even going to ask…I’m sure I’d never understand.

And this, I suppose…

That was nice of her to send a letter. Sounds like Sonja did well. *sigh* I’m sorry the pet is being such an idiot. I dunno how you do it.

you definately must have missed something in the first one … it happens. i’ve seen it 3 times! uh oh!

Awe, that was such a sweet note! And it’s good that Sonja will be able to go back to camp. Seems everyone will enjoy having her back, too. *has nothing else to say* Since we talked about everything else over the phone. *laughs*

I think college will be a good experience and learning tool, but I can’t devote 4 years of my life to it…not at my current state of thought. There’s always the posibility of changing my mind once I get there. *shrugs* Two years should fly by, though, or at least I hope. I’m anxious to be in the workforce and making money! Honestly, too, I think my dream of becoming an actress is waning. I want to focus more on what I’ve wanted since I was young and a bit more reachable…on writing of some sort, whether it be for the newspaper or freelance. (Another thing we have in common! We’ve been writing poetry and such for years, now. We’re cool.) I think it’d be great to be an actress and much fun, as I love using my imagination, but writing, concentrating on my spiritual path, and finding love is where my heart is right now. Yup. I was wrong. *sniffs* But I fixed it! Like we discussed in messenger, so much to learn and remember…with fun and growing thrown into the mix, of course. *smiles*

*waves from work* Hey, luv! *laughs* Yup, I’m at work, and I envy this computer…has high-speed Internet. O.o, it goes fast…Zoom, zoom, zoom. *laughs* Don’t mind me. ‘Tis 6:30 AM, and I don’t think I had adequate sleep. Plus, I just had McDonald’s for breakfast. Yummies. Well, I suppose I shall end this here and wander off to get ready to start me day. Dad likes to get here early, even though I don’t start working till 7 AM. Oh well. *hugs* Bye!
