journaling my birthday
Yesterday was my 41st birthday. I woke up to Tara making pancakes. She did an awesome job. Then I opened presents. I got a candle, the DVD movie Mall Cop, and a kit to re-charge the air conditioner in my car. We all went to church and enjoyed a nice service. (we hadn’t been to church in 6 or 7 weeks) After church we came home and Dale made hotdogs on the grill. One of my daycare moms stopped by with her kids for hugs and brought me flowers.
The kids jumped on the trampoline while we enjoyed a nice visit. Apparently the people at my work have been asking about me. She attended a management meeting at the hospital and my bosses were asking her about me. They said "she hasn’t been worried about her job, has she?" and Cherie repied "no, why?" and they both said that I shouldn’t be worried about my job and they are going to hold it for me for when I get better. They told me this to my face but it’s nice to hear it from a third person.
We met my parents at my favorite Italian restaurant. I expected my siblings to be there since I invited them a long time ago. None of them came. I was a little disappointed. They did all call me though (except Lori)
Tara went to youth group and on the way home we stopped to see Dorothy. She had bought me flowers and made me a peanutbutter pie. YUMMIE! I invited her over to our house for coffee and dessert and she was thrilled. Would you believe she stayed until 10:15? WOW!!
Also, on Saturday night (I forgot to write about this) my neighbor stopped by for a visit and she bought me a gift certificate for a one hour massage. She wants me to get it today because she thinks it’ll help me take chemo tomorrow. I am willing to try it!!
I have so many things to do today. Mostly just stuff around the house. I have some phone calls to make too. I’m glad it’s a rainy day because I usually get more stuff done. Monday is the day I absolutely feel the best because it’s the day before chemo (or 6 days after the last chemo) and my body is feeling better. I can’t believe I only have 2 treatments and 8 days left. I can’t wait to be done with it!
Dale has exams today. I hope he does well. He is getting a "D" in Greek Mythology. He has to do well on the exams. He is getting A’s in Web design and computer graphics and a B in History, a C in English. He isn’t doing too badly.
Well, I’d better go. I have to call my surgeon today and make an appt to get my port taken out. YIPPEE!!
I’m so glad you had such a nice birthday. Enjoy that massage!!

Happy Birthday, sweet friend! I’m glad you’re getting down to the end of chemo. Peanut butter pie…that sounds divine. I’m going to google a recipe! I took Greek Mythology in college. It was so much harder than I expected. There are thousands of names to remember. I sympathize with Dale!
