Clarification

The United States of America, as the founding fathers intended it, is not a democracy, it is a constitutional democratic republic. In a democracy half plus one crushes the rest and the majority can oppress the minority. In a republic there are laws to protect the minority from the majority. Our country is not perfect but the thing that makes it great is that it was founded to protect the rights of the individual from the state and other individuals.
