2005 is over thank goodness…

2005 end of year survey stolen from LJ.

1. What did you do in 2005 that you’d never done before?
A parent’s funeral, bought a car, sang karaoke in front of a live audience

2. Did you keep your new years’ resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I usually make a general rule not to make resolutions. So I didn’t have any last year. I have five this year. I haven’t kept them and it’s only January 5th.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Um. YES. Allison, Amy, and Heidi all had babies in May/June.

4. Did anyone close to you die?
My Mom

5. What countries did you visit?
NONE

6. What would you like to have in 2006 that you lacked in 2005?
Uh. More money.

7. What date from 2005 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
August 14th. The day my Mom died.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Not killing my father.

9. What was your biggest failure?
Not killing my father. Oh wait. No, that’s not right. I don’t know. Not telling my Mom I loved her enough. Not telling her that she was my hero. Not doing more with her. Shit. Now I’m tearing up again. : Knew I shoulda skipped this one.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
No. Actually I haven’t been to the doctor since March and I think that was just for a run-of-the-mill sinus infection.

11. What was the best thing you bought?
Uh. I don’t know. I’d say the boots I bought on Friday but they’re broken. Um. OH! My DVD recorder. Yeah. It’s awesome.

12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
My own. I didn’t kill my father.

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
My father’s.

14. Where did most of your money go?
Into DVDs, food, and gas.

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Well, for a few brief moments I was really excited about DragonCon but then I couldn’t go. So, then I got excited about the RenFaire in Charlotte that I DID go to. I got to meet Natalie (a Livejournal friend) and I was hypnotized. 🙂 I’m so going again next year. I’m also going to the one in Atlanta in the spring, I think.

16. What song will always remind you of 2005?
Um. I don’t know. Ummmmm… maybe Helena by My Chemical Romance.

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
i. happier or sadder?
Both.
ii. thinner or fatter? Thinner
iii. richer or poorer? Uh, about the same actually.

18. What do you wish you’d done more of?
Breakdancing. Hanging out with my Mom.

19. What do you wish you’d done less of?
Worrying. Crying. Hating my father.

20. How will you be spending the Winter?
Locked in a cabin buried in the snow with my boyfriend and a month’s supply of food. *blink* Or you know… working at the library like always.

22. Did you fall in love in 2005?
Yes.

23. How many one-night stands?
None.

24. What was your favorite TV program?
Uh. As sad as this is to admit: Freddie. I know, I know. Shut up. But it’s the only show that Julia and I truly get excited over. Gilmore Girls had to add in a child for Luke which just pissed me off and until Ana-Lucia is killed off of Lost I doubt I’ll watch it again.

25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn’t hate this time last year?
No, I’ve generally hated him for the past 5 or so years. So it’s nothing new.

26. What was the best book you read?
Probably the new Harry Potter. Although Anansi Boys runs a close second. I also really enjoyed Magyk.

27. What was your greatest musical discovery?
Ooh – Aqualung. Death Cab for Cutie. Shawn Mullins. Sarah Blasko. Emilie Autumn.

28. What did you want and get?
Love. Hee. Um. A TIVO.

29. What was your favorite film of this year?
Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, Serenity

30. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
Here’s the really sad thing – I don’t remember what I did on my birthday. Probably nothing but sit at home and watch TV. Actually I think that’s exactly what I did. I was 28 years old.

31. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
I don’t know how to answer this one.

32. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2005?
*guffaw* I have no personal fashion concept.

33. What kept you sane?
Julia.

34. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Um. Probably the entire cast of Firefly/Serenity … Joel Edgerton perhaps?

35. What political issue stirred you the most?
Uh, nothing really stirred me that I recall.

36. Who did you miss?
My mom. Wendi. Will.

37. Who was the best new person you met?
Natalie!

38. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2005:
NEVER EVER EVER forget to tell someone you love them. NEVER. Don’t put it off. If you truly love them you have to let them know every day. You’ll regret it if you don’t.

39. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year:

You are
Never coming home
Never coming home
Never coming home
Never coming home
And all the things that you never ever told me
And all the smiles that are ever gonna haunt me
Never coming home
Never coming home
Could I….
Should I?!?!?!?!
And all the wounds that are ever gonna scar me
For all the ghosts that are never gonna…..

Ghost of You – My Chemical Romance

I’ll do a proper entry later (either this afternoon or tomorrow.) but I just wanted to update quickly and let everyone know that I’m doing well. I’m happy and healthy and I hope everyone else is the same.

*hugs all around*

Much love to you all!

Indeed, Aqualung rocks. So mellow pretty, don’t you think? Sorry about your mom. And good luck with the breakdancing. Seriously. 😉 Actually, felt compelled to leave a random note b/c of the RenFaire. Went to my first this year and absolutely fell in love! Might travel next year as to see more. Anywho, take care! ~Amber
