she walks in quiet rhythm with the heavy thunder
dropping and whispering to her in the background
creeping silently
then crashing across the sky in unchanneled grace.
she’s following the patterns laid out by the street cracks
she prays they’ll lead her to…

a stormy, lusty scene plays out on loop behind closed eyelids
of secrets between sheets and promises unkept
a starry scene plays out on loop behind closed eyelids
of magnificent manipulation in the certainty of the waxing moonlight
[nothing is ever created, just redefined.]

she’ll pass by the haggard, broken people
wondering how many were casualties of addictive escape
in this city of resplendent decay.

[a ruin so goddamn beautiful
that you just stand underneath its canopy and let it overcome you from every angle, let it’s magnitude drown you.]

a construct that could not sacrifice it’s structure for its soul.
