Today I ran
Today, I ran a 1/2 marathon.
April 3rd, 2010; my mother would have been 61.
As I ran along the very hilly course which started on the Clemson University Intramural fields and included areas of campus, the community, the SC Botanical Gardens, and the dikes I certainly thought about my mom. And I searched songs to play on my ipod that reminded me of her and our journey together during the last months of her life.
Interestingly, the experience was not as much of a personal triumph but rather a process. I didn’t acheive record time, or awards for the fastest in my age group, or even the satisfaction that I felt after running the marathon.
But I did it. And at a 10 minute mile pace. I don’t have any of the pain that I felt after the marathon. And I feel like I spent the morning with mom.
Can’t beat that.
I am proud of you.

Congrats on the 1/2 marathon. What an accomplishment. I like that you got to spend some quality time with your mom.
