Sooo
I had the day off today, I’m off all weekend. Yayyy!!! Today, Dave and I woke up and met with our realtor to do a final walk through at OUR house! Yes, we purchased a home today. We signed all the paperwork and now we own our home. It’s super cute, we both like it. After all the paperwork we went back and he got right to work. The house needs a few things fixed before we move in but we should be in there in two weeks. We need all of the big items…couches, bed frames, refrigerator, stove, dishwasher, then later we need to replace the microwave above where the stove goes. I’m excited to hang up string lights over the deck out back, and to put up cute bird and hummingbird feeders. I found a cute little table that goes on the tree for squirrels to come and eat, and also a bee nest so they can lay eggs safely. 🥰 But first thing on my list is having an exterminator come ASAP. I don’t want any monsters getting inside!
Both of our neighbors on each side of the house have one big dog and one tiny dog. I was changing the locks on the back door and the neighbor came out and said hello and she asked us where we were from we said California, and she yea…I saw your license plate so I was just double checking. Then she said “i saw the California plates and (she made a sour face like saying ugh why’d you move here) then we said have a nice day and went back to work. Dave and I both noticed her upset facial expressions, oh well.
Anyway, I’ve always wanted to have a house warming party and now we are so far away. I’ll do a zoom walk through 👏🏼😀
Anyway, I’ve been watching Archive 81 on Netflix and it’s so weird. Have you watched it???
goodnight!
Congratulations on the house! That’s super exciting! Your deck is going to be adorable. Planting certain things will draw birds, butterflies and help the bees. I hope you share some pics of the new home. <3
As for the sour faced neighbor, maybe she just woke up on the wrong side of the bed or had her mind on something else. I do hope she drops the sour face disposition.
Have fun decorating!
@celestialflutter thank you! Idk how we’ll be able to enjoy the deck with all the mosquitoes lol but hopefully all the candles help! When I learn how to post pictures I will share! 😀

Random reader, here, trying to figure out where you are now haha… Somewhere in NC? My parents live in Wilmington, NC, and I live in the central coast of California. I’m Brazilian, and I grew up in Florida, lived in Brazil again for a bit, and also NYC, but have been in CA for years now. I saw a more recent entry where you’re upset about where you live, so I was curious, but I understood once I saw you’re from California – east coast humidity is real! It’s one of the MAIN reasons why my husband and I miss our family, but hesitate to move back that way.
When I first got here, I hated some things about it too, though. I felt cold all the time, and was annoyed that I had to wear a sweater to the beach. But now I’m so used to my California lifestyle. I’m mostly vegetarian (occasional meat), and I love yoga, meditation, hiking… I love the mountains that meet the ocean… I love having moderate weather most of the year. But I will admit it that I am cold in the central coast lol. We’re working on moving back to SoCal (moved here in 2018). Not LA again, but something smaller, south of it.
NorCal is so much prettier, and here too, but I feel like if you live by the ocean on this side of the map, you don’t get an actual summer unless you’re in SoCal. There’s always that super cool breeze, and I do love “sweater weather,” but not all-year-round. We have a fire pit and chairs out in the balcony that faces the ocean, but I can never hang out there, because the wind blows icy cold, and that’s all year, except for maybe select days, it’s crazy. I wear sweat pants, a sweatshirt, socks and slippers every single day of my life, inside my apartment… Maybe I just get cold easily.
I REALLY miss rain and thunderstorms. I ask Alexa to “play thunderstorm” pretty much nightly. I also miss swimming in the ocean, which I did a lot more of in the east coast. Here, I have surfed a few times, and that was amazing (the east coast’s got nothing on west coast waves), but I eventually got too scared of sharks, and now I don’t remember the last time I went. I guess my anxiety just keeps growing, in general.
Sorry, I’m totally blabbing here, but one more thing: that was mean of the neighbor! They’re probably annoyed because prices on the east coast have raised ridiculously since some of us Californians have moved there. But prices are ridiculous everywhere, and I hate that territorial thinking, even though I did recently get annoyed seeing that my small town is getting fuller now, so a bit hypocritical of me haha. But the truth is, anyone deserves to live wherever they want, and people should be kinder.
Congrats on the house!
@free_spirit_gal hi! We’re originally from Long Beach, CA and we miss it so much! I also almost always wore a light jacket. I miss the cool ocean breeze, my husband and I use to swim laps at the bay several times a week, I use to go rollerblading daily at the beach and looooved it!! Breakfast with my mom every Saturday. -sigh-
We moved to South Carolina, we purchased a house because it was cheaper then paying rent but plan on moving in a year. We don’t like it here at all, the reason…the cockroaches lol we cannot STAND IT! Especially me. That’s literally my only actual fear that I have. Apparently they haven’t even come out full blown. I’m terrified of what full blown means. I’ve seen two palmetto bugs one in each bathroom and several wood ones. I’ve never seen them outside on the sidewalks or anything but everyone told me they’re coming. 😭
I was paddling out in San Onofre, CA one summer and I was resting sitting on my board and something tapped my foot so immediately my mind was racing then I turned around and saw a fin slowly disappear below water and I freaked out but I was pretty far out so I couldn’t do much so I put both feet up just waiting for something terrible and then a dolphin leaped out of the water and did a dive then swam up to me then more came. I was so relieved and happy! The guy I was dating at the time and his brother did swim out to me and pulled me in lol I was still shocked. I did stop going out though because sharks are scary. I agree. Our neighbors have warmed up to us which is nice.
@colorfulheart Aaaaw dolphins! Saw one of those while jet-skiing in Florida once, and also thought it was a shark. Yeah, I would have had a heart attack lol. I haven’t surfed in so long, it’s sad. I used to love it so much, but my anxiety gets the best of me these days.
Yeah, SoCal is warmer than here. It’s ALWAYS very cold here in the central coast (by SLO), cause my apartment faces the ocean. I do like cooler weather, but I also love having a summer, and I feel like I don’t here. I’m tired of always feeling cold, like, every single day outside of a handful in the year… Cold even inside my own apartment, blasting that heater… So I think San Diego will be a nice change. I wish so hard that it was much quicker to drive from here to the east coast. The family thing might pull me back that way eventually… Ugh the roaches! If your family is on this side, though, it makes sense to come back this way. 🙂
@free_spirit_gal I looooooove SLO!!!!
