Happy Valentine’s Day everyone…
I just got home from work. Today was not too bad at work. For the first time, I actually had help! It started off a little rocky, then I somehow had a FULL staff! WOW!! I was hard at work in the back today and I was called up front because there was a guy asking for me then they said I think it’s your fiance and I said I don’t have one of those just take a message (I was busy) lol Then they came back and said he had no message he would wait so I said fine I’ll come, and it was David. 💓 He brought dinner for us to have together so everyone shooed me out and had me take a lunch. It was a nice and unexpected but very lovely surprise. I enjoyed our dinner together. 💗He brought me my favorite; a steak salad. My favorite place to pick up dinner back in California was the Market Place Grill, I always ordered us two greek style steak salads and they were so so yummy. I loved ordering from there. This was not the same but very close. There are so many delicious places to eat in California! I miss that!! We really haven’t found good food around here, like, back home the options are endless! Here it is very limited. It’s a great thing we are both good at cooking.
This week George went outside to go potty (he was out there for less than a minute) and when he ran back inside he was crying loudly so I went to see what was wrong, he had a bunch of little black insects on his tummy and they were biting him. His tummy was all bloody and he was yelping, and I was panicked. I am afraid of all insects (ALL) but I was so pissed that these things were hurting my fur baby I just started grabbing them and squishing them all and they were full of blood. Some jumped onto his pillows so I took everything, all his blankets, and his pillows and tossed them in the wash, and began to thoroughly check his whole body for more bugs, bites, ticks. I checked everywhere. I also called Dave and told him what happened and I told him to get home asap because I had to leave for work. I was either going to be late or I wasn’t going to go at all because I didn’t want to leave George alone in pain and not know what happened. He got home so fast!! He checked him also, I thought it was ticks but neither of us found any ticks. (thankfully) Dave gave George and haircut so we can see better if anything gets on him and for the next 3 to 4 days George’s tummy was swollen and red. He hasn’t been acting like himself, he just lays and sleeps. I tried to take him to the vet, several vets – but they all told me they were not accepting any new patients. So one vet nurse finally helped me, she couldn’t tell what it was by the picture but she did say it wasn’t any type of tick. She told me to always check George and that we need to spray our yard weekly or monthly, and she told me to put shirts on him when he goes outside for walks so that there is a barrier. I’ve been icing his little bites so today his tummy wasn’t as swollen and red. He also played catch today inside so that’s a good sign.
We move into our home this weekend. I’m ready to move because I just want to try to settle in finally. I’m going to change my work schedule somehow. I close every single shift and have Friday and Saturday off but I was going to ask for one mid-shift so I can see my husband at least once during the week. Maybe Tuesday or Wednesday I can work a 10-6 shift. I don’t know I haven’t decided yet because I don’t mind closing. Dave comes home tired so he eats dinner and goes to bed. I am undecided. If I do take one mid-shift then George will be home alone longer but not for too long because he’ll have another pup to play with soon.
We’ve been going to our house every weekend to fix things up and put blinds up. I told you guys about how the girl next door wasn’t too fond of having neighbors from California but last weekend when we were there she came over and knocked at our door to say hello. I invited her in and she brought us some homemade chocolates and chocolate-dipped strawberries, she welcomed us to the neighborhood and was just curious. She asked us where in California we are from and if we lived near a beach and if we’ve met famous people. She asked us what kind of baked goods we liked and told us she’d have some ready for us next weekend, she also told us about her family and all of that stuff. She’s a young girl, 15 or 16, and a little socially awkward but nice. She asked if she could come over again and I said of course you can, come over anytime.
So at our house, obviously a pink door is out of the question. I plan on getting pops of pink in there somewhere. Maybe the inside of the cupboards. Is contact paper good to use to line the drawers and cupboards with? Or will it get nasty-looking and grimy fast?
This diary has a monthly charge. I did not know this when I started it. I can pay for the year too, $40 bucks. I would like to find a free one but this one is so nice and easy. I do like having it. I want to share my year in the south with you all. I may pay it. hmmmm
Anyway, I still miss home and cannot wait to move closer to it. Feel free to send us letters and hellos. Those are nice to receive.
I will be home in March. I can’t wait!!!!
