22 Weeks

Your Baby This Week – Week 22

Your baby now weighs almost 1 lb and measures about 8 inches from crown to rump. Your baby’s skin is still pretty transparent — if you could see through your uterus, you would see your baby’s veins. His face and body are beginning to look more like those of a newborn, as his lips, eyelids, and brow become more distinct. If people are telling you that you look smaller or bigger than you should at this point, remember that all women and their babies grow at different rates. What’s important is that you see your practitioner for regular visits so he can make sure your baby’s development is on track.

He is becoming plumper as his fat is being laid down at a high rate, but his skin is still wrinkled and reddish. The wrinkled and loose appearance of his skin is due to the faster production of his skin than the fat that fills it out. The reddish appearance of his skin is due to the deposition of pigment as his skin loses its translucent appearance.

Your baby can kick and punch vigorously by now, but he may also be gently feeling the umbilical cord and rubbing his hands and face against the inside membrane of the amniotic sac that holds him.

He is still swallowing amniotic fluid (which provides an important nutritional supplement to the nutrition he gets from you via the placenta) and is passing some of it as urine. The swallowing of the amniotic fluid may cause your baby to get the hiccups and you may even be able to feel this as his body jumps inside yours.

The lanugo hair on your baby’s body may turn darker at this time.

My boobs are taking over my body, apart from my growing belly. I have gone up two cup sizes. I went for a fitting on Monday morning and I couldn’t believe it. I have always been chesty, but oh my I have two growing mountains on my chest that leek. If they where any bigger I would have people living on them and skiing off them…oh my.

All I wanted do today was take off my bra. If only I could of, but with meetings all day with management I didn’t think it was a good idea. The first thing that I did after Matt picked me up from work was take off my bra…FREEDOM..

Im thinking that after I come back from my leave, that I would like to get into the reservation side of the hotel now. I started there three years ago in housekeeping as a room attendant. It’s hard working your way up. Being a lot younger (then most of management) I have really had to work for respect. I did hear on the grape vine that Melbourne maybe, getting a W hotel.(Second W hotel in Australia) Which is a sister hotel for the Shearton. W , Shearton, Westin, st Regis, Luxury Collection Shearton and Four points are the same hotel. All run by Starwood. Thats means a whole hotel of new staff. I’ll have to keep my ears open about it..

Well its been a big day and Im off to bed..
