Random thoughts:
-Honeycrisp apples are back in season in my area. And thus, joy, peace and harmony return to the world.
-I think a milestone in the aging process is the first time you hear “Frampton Comes Alive” and think, “Huh. That was really pretty good.”
-Mat Kearney’s “City Of Black And White” is an album you should all listen to. I’m sure you guys know Ships in the Night, but just dial it back an album and listen to City of Black and White.
-Had a very interesting talk with bookstore girl at church today.
-It’s so beautiful here in the spring, you guys. Maybe it’s the contrast between winter and the nicer months that living in a more northerly location gives you, maybe it’s just my outlook on life. The sky just seems bluer this year. I mean, winter is very pretty here too, but by the end you’re sick of it. The snowy pines are great, but… Well, the seasons here are just awesome. It’s a fantastic world to walk through on Sunday morning. (I wonder if you single-season people are jealous of it all?)
-Got my bike out for the first time this year. Pedaling feels so good again. I seriously love that thing. Specialized makes some great stuff.
Survey Question:
What do you think it means to be a real man? What is true masculinity, what does “being a man” involve?
Spring in the twin cities is a wonderful place…alive and awake. A real man? As far as masculinity is concerned? I’m going to have to think about this a little bit. I know what I think of when I think of a good and decent man but I don’t think of it terms of masculinity which isn’t what you’re asking.

I also bought some Honeycrisp apples this weekend. Mmmm. A real man: I hate to be a traditional troll but I would say a provider. Even if he doesn’t have the most money/best job, he sacrifices everything for his family. Manliness is also equated with strength, bravery, and protectiveness. I wouldn’t want to be with a man who was more afraid of the dark than I was.

A Real Man knows that his strength is best used to protect the weaker and to love others in the way they need to be loved. A real man knows that on his own he might just be okay, but with God he can be amazing.

I think scripture provides a proper definition. It’s one who boldly follows Christ, thus standing for truth and leads his wife and children in the faith.

Being a real man = being on his knees.

A real man to me, is someone who treats the women in his life (mother, grandmother, sister, girlfriend/wife/fiance) with nothing but respect and shows that respect to others as well.
