There Was An Old Woman Called Old Mother Lee
So – about ten days ago I had 15,500 words of a story written for NaNo.
The story was called Knightfall, and I was having a horrible time writing it. I was bored, uninspired and basically sick of it.
So I gave it up, and started a new one – a story set in The Ministry of Magic based on ideas from The West Wing and The Newsroom. (I am a big Aaron Sorkin fan).
I started the new story on the evening of the 8th of November – as I said, about ten days ago.
About five minutes ago, I finished Chapter 7 ("Dolores"), and – when I did a word count – I had reached 52,899.
In all the years I have been doing this, I have never managed to break 50,000 words in 10 days before.
If I wasn’t the type who was somewhat shy and was the type who is willing to post pictures of myself on line, you would be seeing a picture of me with a HUGE smile on my face.
I am not finished with the story – there are three or four more chapters to go – but I can not get over the fact I have already broken 50,000 words, with another 12 days to go, and having only been writing for 10 days.
But I suspect if I carry on being so full of myself and smug, someone will come along and punch me in the nuts. Which would be quite bad 🙂
