The Day Of The Doctor
Three hours of absolutely phenomenal television.
First was the episode itself – truly glorious and amazing. The plot was brilliant – well worked and well written. David T, Matt S and John Hurt were fantastic – entirely stole the show. And although I am pretty convinced most of the Archive Of Our Own Tags are now wrong, I really think it was a worthy episode. The two surprise guests (so to speak) got me bouncing up and down on the sofa (literally!)
Then I watched the After Party, which was truly hilarious. I realise that it might not have been designed as a comedy show, but from the screwed up "live link" with One Direction (seriously – it’s the 21st century. How hard is it to set up a satellite link with The USA?) from the fact they were clearly trying to bring in the companions but failed on an epic scale to do so, to Twitter’s obsession with Colin Baker’s footwear…..
It was a joy to watch!
And finally I watched "Five-ish Doctors, The Reboot" – a story written and directed by Peter Davidson – which was also brilliant. The cast list was huge (including a metric butt-load of companions), there was a reference to the previous version of The Five Doctors (Tom Baker in Shada) and a few entertaining moments with Georgia and Russell T Davies.
All in all – I have had a truly brilliant evening.
