Seven Days, Then Twelve More
So this morning I went off to the doctors to get a second (third?) opinion on the nasal infection I appear to have.
The nice lady doctor told me that there was no sign of anything on my chest, and that it didn’t seem to be anything that would interrupt or postpone the coming surgery.
I have a week’s course of antibiotics to get rid of whatever it is (and – more importantly – to ensure it won’t spread) which I have begun, and will complete next Wednesday.
And – assuming everything is okay after that – there will be 12 more days before the surgery.
If I am honest – while the idea of the surgery is not something I am looking forward to, the idea of having it postponed will be chaotic beyond reason. My beloved will have to sort out her leave, I’d have to resort out mine, the accommodation we have arranged at the hospital……
The list goes on and on, and the idea of re-arranging it all just gets worse and worse.
But hopefully it will all go well and, 19 days from today, I will be in the ICU staring up in to the eyes of my girlfriend. (Or, if I am honest, I will be in the ICU doped up on A LOT of pain medication and sleeping for most of the time. Not because I don’t adore my girlfriend, but because seriously – there will be a lot of pain!)
Anyway – more updates later. Plus probably a few more political entries, because what is life without a little politics?
