A Good Day
I spent a fair part of today (in fact, a fair part of this week) installing a test system at a customer shop. They have a branch at The Hive, but this is another branch set up in a shopping centre about fifty miles away.
The system is setup in two parts – the management and the actual sensor system. Both parts need to be working – if you have the management with no sensors, you can’t detect anyone who is breaking the system. And if you have the sensors but no management system, then the sensors will detect people who are breaking the system, but they won’t be able to do anything about it.
And it’s working. After letting the technicians wire it all up, I managed to get all three sets of sensors talking to the management system.
Which means today was a good day.
(Yesterday was a good day until I heard Trevor Cavanaugh on the radio, at which point I came >this close< to running my car off the motorway because I figured a horrible fiery death was better than listening to any more of his bollocks!)
I am going back tomorrow for further testing.
Meanwhile, I am going to start editing the NaNo Story ready for publication.
Because – well because why not?
