a greedy country
With all the greed in this world already, are these senseless game shows dedicated to testing someone’s knowledge or lack of it in order to win a large sum of money, necessary? Why is it that these shows can bring families so close together with cheering children and frantic wives jumping their husbands when they win money? What they are actually winning isn’t happiness or security, although perhaps momentarily, but they are rather proving the dark stereotype Americans are plagued by from other countries. Every game show now is about money and going through mental, emotional, and physical obstacles to obtain this significant lump of that ironic concept we call "happiness." It really sickens me the progressive and deteriorating value system our country resides in. Money is important to everyone and you’d be out of your mind to say it’s not, however, a line was crossed long ago when the the greedy pendelum swang from the left side of necessity to the right side of rapacity. Between the mansions, the designer clothes, the high valued cars, and the steep paychecks, our country is in this inescapable race for more.
I don’t write as a hypocrite because money is certainly a large part of my life, however, I am sure that I recognize the difference between what money brings and what money does to people. If you can recognize this line and be aware of the destructivness greed brings, I believe you’re better off (even in a country where money is everything)…
i really want to believe that it’s possible to have a society without money – perhaps even possession. at lest, it would be nice to have a society where money does not hold as much value as it does in ours. i feel like i am being cheated, along with the rest of mankind, for something we created. i feel like there should be more to life, but we limit ourselves at possessions and materialism.
