Day 13 morning Edition

Chance woke up at his normal time. Told him to go back to sleep

Chance: it’s a school day

Me: we had a bad night. You can stay home and sleep in

Chance: I have to go

Me: ok

Then I remembered he is grounded for the weekend no company, and he has to stay home for not doing what I said. So, he didn’t want to go three days of not Talking to Casey. In like three minutes, he came into the Kitchen carrying his backpack his shirt, hoodie, socks, and his shoe his cap in his mouth, trying to comb his hair saying I’m ready. Can’t be late.

Me: Buddy, it’s only 6:45. You didn’t wake up late

Chance: that was mean

Me: I didn’t do anything except say you can sleep in because we had a long night.

Chance just dropped his stuff and sit down started putting on his socks

Chance: There really was something trying to get in last night.

Me: I know there was, but maybe it was a raccoon. He stopped

Chance: it was not. It was big.

He got his shirt and hoodie on and walked over

Chance: you don’t believe me.

I picked him up and sat him on the cabinet

Me: I believe there was something there.

Chance: It was bigger than a coon. (he was getting worked up)

Trying to get him off last night for now.

Me: you know you have two different color socks on.

Chance: it’s how everyone wears them, one white, one black. Your old

Me: ok, just telling you in case you didn’t notice.

Chance: since you put me up here and in my way, can you hand me my brush and shoe your going to make me late

Me: you have a lot of time. I’ll take you, but we will hurry

He started brushing his hair (he has long hair, another thing to learn to take care of). I grabbed his shoe and put it on him. Grabbed a sunny D and his sausage, egg, and biscuit from the microwave, his backpack, put him over my shoulder and headed for the door

Chance: dad, stop. He was laughing

Me: you said we had to hurry, so you’re not late.

He sat down at the table and ate. Then said now we could go if I was ready. As we went to go out to the truck, he walked in front of me. He hesitated at the door. I just picked him up and put him on my shoulders.

Chance: I wasn’t scared

Me: Didn’t think you were

Chance: I knew there wasn’t anything out here in the daylight

Me: Ok, I can put you on my shoulders if I want your mine

Chance: you never do that in the mornings. I wasn’t scared

Me: I know the ground looked wet, and I didn’t want your foot with just a sock to get wet

Chance: I wasn’t scared.

Me: are we picking up, Casey.

His face lit up, and he was on the phone. He was to see if she wanted us to

Chance: I thought I was Grounded

Me: you are, but I said Friday night till Sunday night but can change it

Chance: NO, I’m good

We picked Casey up all the way to their school. Chance told her about what happened. We got there I told the principal about last night. The resource officer already knew. Guess he read the report.

I headed to town and grabbed some solar/ motion detector lights Headed back home and since it was daylight, I looked around outside his window, but the deputies and I had walked around, so could not tell anything. The window had marks on it, but it’s an older house, so may have been there, installed the lights, and ordered an alarm system from amazon to go on the doors and windows. I want to un-ground him after last night, but know I shouldn’t, but think ok this is that pick-your-battle thing.
