day 13 evening edition

Chance rode the bus home; I was sitting under the shade tree. When he got if the bus it was a dead run to the house, he looked around the whole time till he saw me.

Chance: I just wanted to see how fast I was

Me: Ok, did you have a good day

Chance: I wasn’t worried about anything

Me: Ok, but did you have a good day

Chance: yep, passed my test

Me: what test

Chance: the one I forgot to tell you about

Me: go put your stuff up and come back

Chance: I need a sunny D

Me: ok

He came back out, and we tossed the ball awhile, then he talked me into going to Jays for dinner. He needed meatloaf. On the way, we talked about last night. He is sure it was something big that was at his window. He never said a monster, but it was big. He was sure of that. I told him about the lights I put up and said I would show him how they worked when we got home, and it was dark. I hope they don’t turn on every little thing. I don’t get how someone so little can eat so much. On the way home, out of the blue

Chance: Dad, if I keep doing what she said and am good, she will come home and not be mad anymore. I have to wait.

Me: Buddy, you did nothing wrong. I promise this has nothing to do with you. I had no idea what to say to him.

Chance: don’t lie to me. I did it, that’s why I don’t talk to you about her.

Me: you didn’t

Chance: can we watch a movie are am I grounded from that too?

Me: we can if you’re a smart mouth

Chance: No, I wasn’t. Mom never grounded me, so I didn’t know

Me:  Maybe not, but I’m not a mom

Chance: not even what I was saying, never mind.

We decided we wanted a sonic blast, but it’s 2.5 hours to sonic, so we did the next best thing, got the hand crack Ice cream maker out, and went to work.

Chance: you are going to make me sit on it

Me: you are going to eat some of it

Chance: fine, your mean

Me: at least my butt won’t be cold

He ate two bowls, and we started a movie with him in his mom’s chair. He was out. I’m just going to take him to my room when I go. Maybe a wrong decision. But perhaps I can sleep and won’t be up every few minutes checking on him.
