Day 11 evening edition
Chance called from school and ask if Casey could come over because Her parents were working late.
Me: Ok, but you know the rules
Chance: one of her parents has to call you
Me: you know they have to call the school for her to ride your bus
Chance: since when
Me: since always just tell her
Chance: ok
At about 3:50 got a call
Chance: Dad, don’t be mad we missed the bus. They wouldn’t let Casey on the bus
Me: did you tell her to call her mom are dad so she could ride the bus
Chance: I didn’t think you had to
Me: I told you
Chance: Can you come gets us
Me: I’m on my way, but understand after her parents pick her up later, we have an issue to deal with. I don’t talk to hear myself talk
Chance: Ok, but really comes don’t leave us here because your mad
Me: I’m on my way and not mad
On the way, it clicked I can be slow sometimes so I called him back
Chance: you still coming I could hear the fear in his voice
Me: Of course, I was letting you know I got stuck by a train and we can stay on the phone till I get there if you want
Chance: it’s all good if you’re really coming
Me: I’m really coming I would never not come to get you even when you are being a Butthead
Chance: Please don’t lie to me.
Me: look up I’m at the stop sign
Chance: yelp grounded here I come
Guess I have more to think about. He was trying not to cry, but you could see the fear on his face. I think Casey could see it she was holding his hand. They got in the truck and Chance didn’t say a word. Casey said see he isn’t mad
Me: I’m used to having a Butthead for a kid
Chance: Dad
We stopped and got a drink Casey went to get an orange drink Chance looked to see where she was then turned and gave me the biggest hug and said I was so scared you weren’t coming cause I made you mad.
Me: could never happen Buddy I would be lost without you.
Casey walked back and I got the look. he asks her if she was ready.
We got home and they headed out to the horses I checked the Slow Cooker Ribs they looked good but time will tell the hope is Ribs and lite bread and potato salad (bought that) so worst case we have potato salad and bread. Either way bet Chance doesn’t say much. He is pretty sure he is in trouble for not doing what I said after school. Here mom picked her up around 7
Chance: Can we eat first then be in trouble
Me: are both at once.
We ate it wasn’t bad the BBQ sauce wasn’t great but Hey that’s wasn’t on me
Chance: said it was good but the red stuff (sauce) was not good so I call it a pass.
Me: you know I won’t tolerate you not doing what I say, I never have and never will
Chance: I didn’t think it mattered
Me: But I told you the bus driver couldn’t let her on the bus without her parents saying it was OK
Chance: I know But
Me: no buts you have to do what I say, how I say, so no company this weekend
Chance: that’s
Me: open your mouth, and it will be longer
Chance: Can I go to my room
Me: that’s fine
One of my biggest fears is he didn’t listen, and his mom shows up, and he is not where an adult sees what is going on or she tells him into doing something. I know if I try and talk to him about her not being able to talk to him and he can’t go with her I will end up the bad guy. He still believes she will be back to stay. Learning to get everything done around the place worrying what she will pull, and being home when he is, is stressful enough without him not listening. I know it’s an adjustment learning He comes first, but this place has to make money are I can’t take care of him. Chance just came in and got in his mom’s recliner and is watching me so think he wants to talk. Guess I’ll cut this back to once a day
