Day 10 long night

Bad night Chance was up and, down all night,
Me: Buddy you feel bad
Chance: I don’t
Me: just stay in here with me
Chance: I have bad dreams when I go to sleep
Me: you want to talk about them
Chance: no then they happen
Me: buddy that’s not true but it’s up to you
He finally fell back asleep at about 5 am so I just let him sleep in and decided he could just spend the day with me.
Chance: I didn’t mean to be a baby last night
Me: you weren’t a baby we all have bad nights never feel bad about getting me up
Chance: Dad I didn’t mean to make mom mad and leave. When she comes back you can tell her I’ve been doing everything she said
Me: Buddy come here you’re not why she left do not ever think that.
Chance: I know I did it because she was mad cause I knocked a coke over and spilled it on her and when we were at the game I stepped in the water and got some in my boot and my sock got wet she got mad and we came home. on the way home I ask her to pull my boot off because I couldn’t get it off and she said I was being a spoiled brat and I could just wear one. Then she left.
Me: Buddy, I promise you had nothing to do with what she did.
Chance: stop lying to me I’m not talking to you about it anymore
He walked off to his room
I had no clue what else to say. but it explains the whole shoe battle and the mom said to do it this way, or mom will get madder at me. And I bet it explains his nightmares last night.
I had felt kind of bad until now, we filed charges Tuesday for abandoning a child, and endangering a child both felony charges and the judge issued a warrant and put a restraining order against her and a protective order if she gets within 500 feet of him, she has another charge and gave me full temporary custody. The court contacted the school and told them no one could pick him up, or talk to him, other than school staff unless I’m there and the school resource officer is on campus before and after school till all the kids are in the building are on the bus unless. When I was in court trying to get full custody, The judge asks me why I told him what happen. He said “that bitch left him alone in the middle of the night in this messed-up world” his words exactly. Then he said I will show you what we can do. Called the sheriff and he came and that was the outcome. I was shocked small towns don’t mess around when it comes to kids. I was just hoping for full custody so if she came back, she couldn’t just take him.
Sitting here watching him sleep I can’t get her leaving him. When she got pregnant it was high risk for her it was all she talked about. Then when he was born, she wouldn’t let him out of her sight. He was so small and still is, People think he is 7 or 8 he gets so mad. Hope this day turns around for him.
