Everything Flows

you were an ocean then dishonest and venal

You promised the world if she undressed in the sand

you flowed to her open legs then through her tunnel

and found yourself stranded in some unknown land

Over the bridge there’s a troll on the prowl

under the rock it’s a poisonous adder

There’s no kind of welcome in your godless howl

it’s time you figured out what does and what doesn’t matter

You were looking for prostitutes but you found yourself a whore

It looks like your fortune but it’s only a card

even the teller can’t tell you any more

sometimes the world is silly and sometimes it’s hard

The only time you tried the connection was poor

king of a magic kingdom but she’s so charmingly insular

you doubted her past but you’ve never been so sure

Your disney world is round or at the very least circular

as she fell in your lap, she danced one last dance

the suggestion was rude but the suggester so affable

so she turned you down when you made an advance

And called you a beast and some other animal

you grabbed her and took her till death do you part

With Judas the priest and Hymen the witness

as your noblemen watched you bared her breast then her heart

and a marvelous thigh that rivals Jesus in sweetness

taking a dip in her pure love you knew

A courtesan is never supposed to hold court

so lying there taken you named her anew

a virgin, a motherland, or something of the sort

your subjects looked happy from high up above

ever so lovely when you bade them undress

you acquired their dread but never their love

They needed you more till they needed you less

you were one king too many and they always knew

You never managed to count your affairs

allowing your own sword to dig deep into you

Your whore was sold off and your kingdom is theirs

Now you’re back where you started and where you belong

drinking and counting the odds and the evens

you say you need something to loosen your tongue

but nothing is needed to loosen your demons

They’ll curse magnanimity and damn the austere

Their cup is half empty and half full of ice

you think you’ll find me at the bottom of your beer

But you cant ever drown in the same river twice

Duh. The last part confused me, but I get it now. I dunno
