A Lunch Time Story

When I opened my work email this morning I had an email from Gregg.  The subject line said "You". The body of the email said, "are the best thing that ever happened to me".

You know, you gotta love a man that sends sweet emails. It’s an unwritten law. You also have to give that man some amazing sex. And that is just what I did … about 30 minutes ago.

Have I ever mentioned what an angel my daughter is? No really, she is.  She is a better person at 10 years old than I am at 39.  Monday night while we were eating dinner she told me that a girl at her lunch table at school didn’t have anything to eat for lunch that day. Hannah said the girl didn’t have any money on her account nor did she bring anything from home.  My first response was sympathy for the child. My second was anger towards the parents, but I didn’t say anything to Hannah about that. I just told her that it was sad to think of someone not eating while everyone else was.  Hannah said she thought so too so she gave the girl some of her lunch. I wanted to wrap my arms around that child and give her the biggest hug and tell her what a nice thing that was for her to do.   So I did just that. After dinner I went to her and told her that it was kind of her to share her lunch.  She told me that she feels sorry for the girl because on the day the girl brings her lunch from home all she has in her lunchbox is chips and a cookie.  She said the girl’s Mom doesn’t packs her lunch, she has to do it herself.

Yesterday morning while I was packing Hannah’s lunch she came into the kitchen and asked if I would put an extra bag of peanut butter crackers, yogurt and a drink her in lunchbox just in case the girl didn’t have any thing to eat. Then she said, "because Mom, even though I shared my lunch yesterday I really wanted my peanut butter crackers (they are her favorite) and after I gave them to her I wish I would have given her my yogurt instead."

I love that child.

Sweet apples fall from good trees.

She is a doll inside and out 🙂

You’re writing in your diary 30 minutes after having sex? Do you not own a TV? Pretty good kid you got there.

That is so sweet of your daughter. Doesn’t it break your heart when they do the right thing even if it means they go without? That’s such a mature lesson. but ugh!
