Monday kind of Friday..
Only a few minutes to write. Woke from Frank’s alarm after dreaming of tramping around a damp field around an abandoned cabin in Tennesee. Met up with vague fluid people from my past. Time for coffee and morning joe. Time to find longer pants for the boys. Typical September: 90 degrees one day, 70 the next. Torrential rains last night that aided my deep sleep. Today is my first day back to work in just under 2 weeks. Wonder what I will find.
A coworker "interviewed" me for a paper she is writing for a global studies class she is taking to get her BA. I thought the topic of the paper was supposed to be "race vs. ethnicity" but I am not sure how my interest in my father’s past and the politics of WW2 surrounded his mountain home village play into this, but still it was interesting in a pleasing sort of way to hear her frame my words and ideas in her voice. She called me last night and read me what she’d written so far. I will have to ask her how she used a quote of mine as the opening sentence. I cannot remember it word for word but I liked it. I agree it could be an opening statement for my book. I did have moments as we drove under the lush canopies of forest in TN that tugged me back to my wonderings and ruminations. Time to go back.
Cam was so enthused by our 2 trips to the car wash to clean our van and suv. He bubbled over with squeals and laughter and comments. He charms everyone in his path, male and female alike. Q’s charm is quieter. All you have to do is look in his moody blue eyes and know an old soul resides there. I enjoy individual time with each one these days with Q in full time school.
Time for baths and jeans and packing lunches and quick cuddles. Time to go.
