Shit Day + Good News

Yesterday was the shit day, not today.

There was generally a lot of stress. Lots of work in my classes. Lots of Bryan being stressed. Lots of not understanding key parts to important proofs.

KABOOM! A gas line exploded. For serious. On campus. A really big one, apparently. They evacuated the entire campus, because they were afraid of an explosion.  All evening classes were canceled, which was kinda nice.  I didn’t have to go to PDEs.  Bryan and I also went up to his mom’s work (she’s a nurse at the cancer institute) and hung out for a few hours.  While they didn’t close the dorms, I was feeling kind of stressed about being too close to the gas leak.  Maggie works about as far away from the gas leak as you can get while still being on campus.

There was also a bit of drama with my father (as is expected), but not in the usual way.  I basically called and said that I thought he should leave the house and be somewhere else for a few hours (my parents house is barely outside of the evacuation radius; I thought it would be good to play it safe).  He absolutely refused to leave.  I got really, really, really stressed, and even called my mom out of a meeting at work, asking her to talk some sense into him.  So yeah, that was no fun.

And then I went back to Bryan’s room, and he was trying to explain the crazy logic that accompanied one of the proofs.  I got really frustrated and completely shut down.  Which really upset him, to the point where he also completely shut down.  And then I took a three hour nap.  Woke up, and Beth was over.  Bryan was helping her with her math homework (she’s learning all about logarithms and that fun stuff).  I waited for about an hour and a half for my turn, passing the time by playing with Bryan’s computer.  Found his porn folder.  :S

That more than anything upset me, and I took it all out on him without really explaining why.  >.<

He fixed my proof problems, then kicked me out of his room to get some sleep.  I came home and wanted to cut more badly than anything.  I didn’t.  It was hard, but I still didn’t.

It was a horrible day and I made a lot of really bad calls.  Today’s been a lot better.  We’ve talked a bit, and are doing a lot better.  We didn’t really have time to discuss anything specific (I have tons of classes today, and he has a job interview), but hopefully we’ll get to it later.

I’m really pleased with how I did on the foundations test.  I got both proofs correct (didn’t leave anything out), and I feel that I phrased them correctly also.  That was really relieving– I’d been stressed about it all day.

So the stress has been gradually melting all day.  I got up the guts to call Danny (the realtor) and ask if there were any developments on the Victorian.  Here’s where the good news is!  He said that he’s getting an answer from the other family today and that he’ll let me know tomorrow morning.  He also said that he thinks they’re much more interested in another house.  He also said that he’d probably be calling my mom in the morning (so he can run all of the credit check details), which is good news!  It means that he strongly suspects that we’ll be the ones getting the house!

I think all of this finger-crossing everybody’s been doing has paid off!  Just a little longer to keep my hopes up high!

I’m really excited.

Also, you should all check out this video.  It’s highly entertaining.
