So, it’s been a while.  I’ve been avoiding OD on purpose, for the most part, actually.  After moving in, I went through this large period of severe unhappiness, and just didn’t really want to write about it.  So I didn’t.  But things are mostly better, now.

The house is fantastic.  I’m finally feeling somewhat settled.  I’m still getting things from my parents’ house over to our house, and I swear I keep running out of room and then finding more.  It’s amazing how much stuff will fit in a broom closet, if you pack it correctly.  There have been a lot of physical issues with the house that are frustrating, though.  Our plumbing didn’t work upon moving in; our downstairs shower keeps breaking (Bryan says if we fix it with epoxy, it will be fixed forever; I’m sick of asking the landlord to do it); the roof leaks in one spot, and it’s been raining a lot…

Things have been gradually fixing themselves, but it’s frustrating, definitely.

I had a birthday.  I’m twenty now.  Huh.  Apparently being twenty automatically makes me a "woman," as all of the birthday cards from my relatives seemed to indicate such.  But my birthday was nice.  I got three cakes, haha.  Bryan made me one, Carson showed up unexpectedly, home-made cake in hand, and my mom made my favorite chocolate bundt cake.  Yum.  We had lots of cake forever.

A puppy in our puppy raising group, Apex, has the same birthday as me.  I puppy-sat him over the weekend, and we shared the birthday together.  It was fun.  🙂  Yay puppies!

Speaking of which.

My puppy arrives on Wednesday.  That’s the day after tomorrow!!  I know that he’ll be male, a black lab, and his name starts with the letter ‘P’.  It’s driving me nuts!!  I want to know his name!  I want my cuddly wiggly ball of fur.  I am so excited.  I have already gotten all of the supplies (food, toys, brushes, etc.), and now I just need a puppy dog.  *impatiently paces*

Bryan and my relationship was kind of BLAH for a while.  Moving in definitely changed it.  (The majority of my BLAH mood, actually)  We’re mostly fixed now, though.  Both of us were just stressed about the move, have a lot more responsibility (like buying/making food), and were just going through icky spells anyway.  Also, being around one another 24/7 didn’t help much.  But we’ve talked a lot, and I started remembering to take my multivitamin again (I’d forgotten in the change of routine), so I’m not anemic, and he’s not depressed, and we go on dates again, and we do other fun things.  Which is good.

I saw Amanda twice while she was in town.  It was really nice.  I love my ‘Manda.  She was diagnosed with diabetes this last semester, and pretty much had a shitty time of it.  Insert flashbacks to Aunt Pat, and all of that horrible diabetes drama.  But Amanda is doing well.  And has a good future ahead of her.

I put my phone through the washing machine.  That was fun.  Because I’ve been with the same phone company for almost two years, they’ll give me a free phone upgrade as soon as two years actually hits.  Which is in mid-July.  So I can get a free phone if I chill without one for about a month and a half.  And they MAY give one to me a month early.  So we’ll see.  I’ve been doing fine without my phone as-is, and I’d really rather not pay for a new one.  Just gotta talk to the company.

So many people have been hanging out at our house!  It’s really nice.  One of my worries was that living in not-the-dorms would be socially isolating.  It is not.  People are coming over at least every other day, and it’s really refreshing.  And John is not mad at us at all.  Which is also nice.  I don’t like it when people are mad.

There is no drama in my life.  *audible sigh of relief*  This is both rare and wonderful.  I hope to keep it this way.

It rained all day on my birthday.  It felt like a good sign.  Like a clean start.  Freshness, growth…  This last year has been so stagnant, and it’s really starting to turn around.  I think that my 21st year will be one of the best yet.  Even if we do have a leaky roof.

I wonder what sort of puppy names begin with ‘P’?  The household seems to think that Pascal is a likely name.  Mostly just because it would be funny for the chemist to get a puppy with a chemistry name.  No one will really know until he arrives, though.  *pouty sigh*  I’m soooo curious!

Anyway, I’ll be writing more regularly now that I’m feeling better.  Hope everyone’s doing well!

So good to read you again! I guess any relationship will be strained after a major change like that, you’ve got to find your footing again and get a feel of each other’s limits and things. But hopefully from now on it’s all up. I also hate slow landlords. Houses always have hidden crappiness you don’t realise until you live there! And YAAAAAAAY puppy! May we expect pictures?

My sister named her cat Purple Microdot — hey, it was the 70’s. RYN: Thanks for the note. I think it’s one of the nicest notes I’ve every received. Tailwinds!
