Backpacks are chew toys?

Nope, they are not.  I accidentally left my backpack on the floor, and was really worried that Porter was going to munch on it.  So I was standing over him, ready to correct at any point, and he sniffed it a bit, and then climbed on top and fell asleep.  It was SO CUTE!  He is learning so quickly not to chew on things.  Well, really, to only chew on his designated toys.

In other news, I am currently making vegetable soup.  It shall be delicious.  New thing that I’m trying:  adding a dash of cinnamon to the soup.  I like it, so far.  But SHH!  Don’t tell Bryan.  He loves guessing which spices I’ve used in my cooking (and is scarily good at it), and I want to see if he’ll get this one.  He probably will, actually.  It does smell like cinnamon, even though I added only a very small amount.

Danny dropped by the other day to look at our leaks, and said that he would go up on the roof and fix them as soon as we have a dry day.  The problem is that we have not had a dry day in forever, and that trend will probably continue.  We also haven’t been able to mow the lawn in forever, for the same reason.  Porter sure does love that!  Romping in really tall grass is super-duper fun.  Especially when it makes it difficult for me to tell if he’s eating leaves or not.  I hope we can mow the lawn soon.  🙂

Oh!  Bryan and I went to see the movie UP, and it was REALLY good.  I would recommend it, but then again, I love all Pixar movies.  (With the exception of Cars; I hated Cars— but then again, that was Disney storyboarded, not Pixar.)  I totally cried like a baby during the movie– and not even at the end!  In, like, the first twenty minutes.  If you go see the movie, you’ll understand why.  But it starts out very, very, very sad.  And I just curled up in Bryan’s arms and bawled.  It was fantastic.  Go see it!

Sorry about the disjointedness of this entry– I’ve been writing it all day, on and off.  I finished the soup, and it was delicious.  Bryan, of course, got the cinnamon right away.  It wasn’t very subtle, actually.  You would be surprised how much cinnamon comes out in savory dishes.  It was very tasty, though.  It got all gobbled up, even though I made a TON!  I think the trick to having enough food for the people in this house is to always aim to have leftovers (which is what I did), and then everyone will get enough to eat.  Silly college kids and their silly appetites.

Sarah came over for a bit today, to meet Porter and say hello.  She’s been having a hard time lately– without going into detail, family stuff sortof sucks.  I’m not really at liberty to disclose information, other than the fact that her grandmother died.  So she’s doing alright.  A nice bike ride up the canyon was good for her.  And a sleeping puppy in her lap, of course.

I really need to exercise more.  I’ve been not very good about it lately.  Part of it is the weather (who wants to go for a walk when it’s dumping buckets on your head, seriously?), and part of it is just general laziness.  Part of it, also, is that I’m just so used to counting walking the dog as excercise.  Porter practically falls asleep from walking around the block, and that just isn’t enough to keep me active.  More excercise, Addie!

And in other news, I do believe that it’s time to play a card game with my boys!
Over and out!

Aaaw he’s such a cutie! My dog used to do that when he was little, crawl onto backpacks and other various bags and nest into them. 🙂 Sounds like all is well, am glad to read it!
