The type of night I want more of

Tonight she’s out to lose herself
And find a high on peachtree street
From mixed drinks to techno beats

Tonight is the type of night I want more of.  It’s the type of live I had imagined when I moved here.  The funny thing is, I always seem to have those types of nights when I’m with R2.  I guess it’s the difference between ITP and OTP.  Oh well.

We went to a art opening first tonight.  It was so nice.  Lots of different types of artists paintings and drawings.  There was something there for everyone.  We walked around and enjoyed the art.  I felt very cultured.  Again, it’s the kind of thing that I’ve always wanted to do and I never really have had the chance to do.  Saree and I went to High Museuem about a year ago to see the Van Gogh exhibit which was totally cool.  Today was different because I think this was all local artists and and famous dead ones.  The one exhibit was pictures of old women.  It was kinda sad looking at all the pictures.  The women all looked so sad like their lives were all over.  I’m sure that’s what the artist was trying to portray.  For example, one was of this old lady in her leotard and you could tell she must have been a dancer when she was younger but she’s too old to dance now, yet she’s still dressed in her old clothes and from the look on her face it was obvious she missed her youth.

After that, we went to this bar/restaurant.  We had some drinks and at first were just pretty much just hanging out among ourselves.  Then as always R2 saw people she knew and I met a lot of her friends.  We had some great conversations.  They were all talking about a friend of theirs who is now engaged.  He went back to India, met a girl, only talked to her for 2 hours and then got engaged.  Though we found it strange, R2’s friend who is already married was trying to convince us that there is nothing wrong with that.  That we all play this game and we all think we are going to get someone who is better than us, but that we all need to be reasonable and not necessarily settle for less, but understand that the perfect images we have in our heads isn’t real and what we have to look for is a real person.  It really hit home.  The guy was hilarious.  We sat around and talked for hours.  Oh yeah, before that, I think this guy kinda tried to hit on me?  Not sure.  He started a conversation with me when I was by the bar getting my second drink.  We actually stood there and talked for a long while.  Saree joined in after a while.  The whole time he was talking, I noticed this other guy staring at me too.  When the first guy finally left, the other guy came and talked to me too and introduced himself to me as well.  Ehhh…not interested.  But it was still flattering nonetheless I guess.

I love meeting new people.  I wish R2 would hang out with me more and invite me out to hang out with her friends more.  I totally envy her and I want her life!  Oh well.  I’m extremely tired now.  It’s 2:30AM and I need sleep!
