Post Oscar Thoughts…

So my predictions from the last entry….I got 20 out of 24.  Not bad…Actually, I think that’s pretty daman good!  So my thoughts.  I LOVE John Stewart!  He was great and I hope they invite him to host again.  But over all, the show was underwhelming.  But then again, so was last year.  I don’t know.  There weren’t a lot of stars there it seemed.  The pre-show redcarpet was a joke…hardly anyone seemed to be there.  I had a hard time actually finding best dressed because no one really stuck out to me.  I was sad that Brokeback lost but Crash was a good second choice.  Actually as far as my picks, go, right before the show aired I even told my friend S who was watching with me that I changed my who will win best picture to Crash so actually, I got 21 out of my 24.  I just never came here to update my entry.  Those in the know on the Internet were buzzing about Crash, so I knew it was coming.  I wasn’t even surprised.  Just overall, not an Oscar that’s going to stick out in my mind.

But anyway, here’s my picks for Best and Worst Dressed:

Best Dressed Guy: Jake Gyllenhaal
My god, what a cutie!!  He’s just beyond words for me!!  After this year, he has definitely become one of my favorite actors, not just because he’s cute either.  He’s also an amazing actor.  Was sad he didn’t win Best Supporting Actor, but that one I saw coming a mile away.  He’s still young…only 25 so I know there is definitely a golden statue in his future.  He was definitely my best dressed guy!

Best Dressed Guy Runner Up: George Clooney
Again, a total HOTTY!!  I KNEW he would win the Best Supporting Oscar.  He was nominated 3 times and I knew they wouldn’t let him walk away without one and he had no chance at director or writer.  He looked great and I actually loved his acceptance speech.

 Best Dressed Girl: Salma Hayek
Try as I might, I wasn’t able to find a single decent picture of this lady!  First of all, I have always thought that she was just the most beautiful woman in the world so maybe I’m a bit biased.  But I LOVED her dress, mainly for the color.  It fit her perfectly and she looked amazing!

Best Dressed Girl Runner Up: Ziyi Zang
My friend S and I were talking about there being too many black dresses on the red carpet.  We liked it when people wear color.  I think that’s just the Indian in us.  Anyway, I was too underwhelmed by most of the dresses out on the red carpet.  So if I had to pick a runner up, I have to go with this.  It was a nice dress.

Best Dressed Couple: Will and Jada Smith
I loved the color and fit of her dress and he just looked classis Hollywood.  They are a great looking couple!

Best Dressed Couple Runner Up: Heath Ledger and Michelle Williams
Anyone who knows me, knows how much I HATE yellow.  I dont own a single yellow piece of clothing, but this dress, I would wear…maybe.  I like the shade of yellow it is and it looked great on her with the bright red lipstick.  They both looked nice togerher, like they fit together.

Best hair and makeup: Uma Thurman and Reese Witherspoon
They both had their hair up and it looked great.  It fit the shape of their faces perfectly.  They both have oddly shaped faces, if that makes any sense.  And though their makeup styles are totally different, each one fit and they both looked lovely!

Worst Dressed Girl: Naomi Watts and Charlize Theron
Maybe I’ve come to expect too much from these ladies who usually look beautiful!  But I hated both their dresses.  Naomi’s looked like it was falling apart and WHAT THE HELL was the puffy shit on Charlize’s shoulder?   UGH!!  But I have to admit, the color of her dress was quite beautiful and her hair and make up were amazing.

Worst Dressed Guy: Ludacris
Ummm…what the hell?  It’s all velvety…I think he’s taking the whole trying to be a Pimp thing a little too far.  So not attractive to me.

Worst Dressed Couple: Tim Burton and Helena Bonham Carter
OMG!!! What the HELL were they thinking?  I know Tim Burton is a little eccentric and out there, but Helena is usually so beautiful.  There was nothing beautiful about her last night. What is up with her hair?  The color of the dress is ok, but the fit?  And the shoes? YUCK!

Worst hair and makeup: Keira Knightly
She’s such a pretty girl!!  But I just didn’t like the make up on her.  It made her look older than her age.  She’s only 20 for heaven’s sake!  And the hair??  It was just pulled into a pony tail.  AND it even had a BOW in it.  Not red carpet worthy at all!!  But I did love her jewlery and dress.

So, that’s my two cents about everything fashion I guess.  I’d put John Stewart up as Honorary Best Dressed because the man did like quite handsome in a tux!  I’m probably just biased because I love him so much.  Not a great year for fashion over all though.  I missed a lot of people on the red carpet this year.  No Kate Winslet?  I guess she had no movie out this past year.  She’s usually stunning.  And Nicole Kidman, who also is usually drop dead gorgeous, was dressed in a dress that washed her out and made her paler than she already is.  And no Johnny Depp?  I can always count on him for something interesting.  Oh well…maybe next year will be better.  And maybe next year my favorite film will actually win the Oscar.

Jake is so adorable! And humble. You have to love him 🙂 I thought Uma’s makeup was pretty unflattering, actually. She looked washed out. Really, where were all the stars last night??? The red carpet was basically shots of Will and Jada over and over again. There seemed to be no one there, except the people who were nominated and the presenters. Very disappointing.

I love Will and Jada! The dress Naomi wore was absolutely horrible, I’ll agree! I didn’t know that Tim Burton and Helena Bonham Carter were dating. It seems kind of right just because to me she seems a little dark… I think it’s because of her character in “Fight Club.” And he… definitely seems a little dark, but in the beautiful way because “Edward Scissorhands” for instance has a…

character (Edward Scissorhands :P) who seems dark and mysterious just because he’s isolated and alone in that dark-looking mansion for so long. But he’s really misunderstood and it’s the neighbors who fear him that are actually really dark because they totally reject him just because he’s different. But he’s actually quite a beautiful character… Anyhow, when I write notes they might be…

somewhat long. See, I can’t write in my diary anymore. For some reason the website won’t allow me to. I can only write the titles to the entries and nothing more. It sucks. But anyhow, yes, I still want to note others diaries, including yours’ from time to time and if you mind long notes just let me know and I’ll try to cut them down. I don’t want to annoy anyone, but I still want to be…

able to write things here, you know? Now, unfortunately, I can’t write my own entries and choose what I can write about, so I can only comment on what other people have written. That’s cool. I love leaving notes. But, like I said, if you mind a lot of notes, just let me know and I won’t write so much anymore. 😀 I’m still going to check the notes on my diary because I’m guessing that’s…

you and others might respond. Although, some people I’ve seen respond to their notes in their own diary by leaving notes! I don’t really know why I wrote all that, except to say that there are note whores and then… I guess I’ve become what could be called a “note-leaving” whore. I could stop writing so much easily, though. Sorry I even wrote that much. It’s hard for me to shorten…

ANYTHING for some reason. :/ Anyhow, last comment on the entry: I thought Keira Knightley looked gorgeous, though yes, the makeup was a bit much. I forgot that she was only 20! People should always look their age no matter what. I mean, for actors and actresses, if they can hide their age with makeup, go ahead. It’s natural. Sort of. I just wish that many of them would stop getting…

plastic surgery. Like, Al Pacino for instance. He looked so much cuter before he got a facelift! But, there I go again. I’ll try not to write whole entries/essays in your note spaces anymore. Just had to indulge this one time. (And may sometimes, though not all the time I’m sure). -Done-

Huh….. Like most guys, i can’t tell the difference between the best and the worst. They all look pretty much the same to me. -squats in a field and crams berries up his nose with a stick-

Hellllooooo! Naomi and Charlize did have hideous dresses, which I didn’t expect at all, leastways not from Charlize. It’s funny because I Tivo’ed the show, and prior to watching it a guy friend told me about C’s dress and how hot she looked, so I was excited to see her, but when she walked out on the stage I went “WTF!?” Lol.

March 7, 2006

My best dressed picks were Uma (she looked so statuesque and ethereal), Salma (she knows how to dress her knockout figure), and Meryl Streep (how did she manage to look so elegant and classy with a neckline like that?!). I wish Jennifer A. wore something other than white or black to these things, because it’s all starting to identical. Overall, I agree with you, the show was underwhelming.

March 7, 2006

salma’s dress was great….but as much as i hate to admit it, i thought Jennifer lopez had the best look. I look at the best dressed/worst dressed on msn fashion and they actually had lopez listed as one of the worst ones. I don’t know, but i thought the color, style of dress was great, and her makeup was good too….plus it didn’t accentuate her big ass like she usually tries to. —

and minus the poofy thing on Charlize’s dress, i loved the style…the site i went to described it as origami….and they hated it, but i thought it was unique and really pretty…..again, minus the poofy thing. I think i was almost in tears with George Clooney’s acceptance speech, i think he’s one of my all-time favorites now, up there with morgan freeman. —

hiiiii….i have a question for you. I think we went to the same restaurant in Athens…not at the same time….but we talked about it or mentioned it or something…and i was trying to remember the name of it. It was a cute little Italian place in downtown but it was right off the edge of campus. Was it called De Palma’s? it’s bugging me…and i was trying to tell a friend about it..thanks!!

March 13, 2006

thanks sooooo much!! It was annoying me because my friend was going there and wanted to know a good place to eat….and i couldn’t remember the name to save my life. how funny, that was me and my first boyfriend’s “real” date too!!! i actually remember what both of us ate and that ricardo had their pineapple juice. hahaa…. —
