My weekend

"Weekends don’t count unless you spend them doing something completely pointless."

Yesterday I did exactly what I said I would do.  I went shoe shopping.  I bought 5 pairs of shoes.  Now I’m picturing what outfits I’m going to wear them with through out the week.  Yes, I’m that sad.  This place sells shoes for $10.99.  A good deal especially since these shoes may go out of style in a few years.  But I won’t care because I didn’t spend a lot of money on them.  One of my favorite pairs that I bought are red sandles with like 3 inch heals with laces that tie up the leg.  I have no idea where I’m going to wear them.  Actually, I can probably wear them to work as long as I wear them with long pants.  I think I might just do that tomorrow.

The other thing I was looking for yeasterday was a black top.  Something I could wear to work with either a skirt or pants, but I could find nothing.  I could find nothing black at all.  The stuff that I found were either too t-shirty or button up shirts and tha’ts not what I wanted.  I haven’t been able to wear my favorite black and white skirt because I lost my top that I used to wear with it.  I should go laundry…maybe I"ll find it then.

I then went to watch The Da Vinci Code.  Great movie.  I really liked it a lot.  But I also can see how it can be confusing if you’ve not read the book.  It followed the book enough for my liking and though I wasn’t crazy about the change in the ending, it actually made more sense the way the movie did it.  Not crazy about Tom Hanks as Langdon and I also didn’t like the fact that he was more of a skeptic than a believer.  Int he book, he believed.  I loved the end.  I love the end in the book and how he put the last clue together and goes to the Louvre.  That scene was not disapointing in the movie.  Audre Tautou is quite beautiful.  How come I don’t remember that from Amelie?  She made a good Sophie.  I hated that they left the first cryptex clue from the book out.  I remember liking that it was her name that opened the first one in the book.  The other thing I loved about the book was that it felt like a treasure hunt…one clue leading to another.  The movie didn’t have that feel.  It felt more like a thriller which is fine.  They feel like two different stories in certain ways, but I enjoyed the movie nonetheless.

Today, I literally did nothing.  I laid around watching crappy movies on TV.  I talked to KM on the phone.  I think I’m going to go visit her again when I go down there for business.  I finally got off my lazy ass and went grocery shopping.  Publix has this Mango/Peach/Passion Fruit serbert that’s so awesome…and it’s only 100 calories per serving!!  Great find!  Now I think I’m going to make some dinner.  I was going to grill some fish with roasted red pepper marinade.  Yum…I’m hungry just thinking about it.

Shoes are essential and I would have gotten at least five pairs at that point. My friend Josh saw the Da Vinci Code and had the same reaction you did about the Tom Hanks as Langdon.

i haven’t seen DaVinci Code yet or X Men III. maybe i am part of a minority. Calvin & Hobbes is one of my favourite comic book strips. i also miss the Far Side and Bloom County. anyway, do men u know get excited with shoe purchases? i mean guys love to talk bout sex. on the other hand, women love to confess their material purchases. we are definitely from different planets.

The changes with the cryptex bothered me. It was such an important part of the plot. I don’t think the film adaptation really did justice to the amount of work they did in solving all of the clues. 5 pairs of shoes!?! I don’t know that I could find that many in one trip. I’d be too busy second guessing myself!
