rawr; the girl.

there’s a pressure on my shoulder

light, but everlasting

feet on the dash

heart on my heart

everything’s in place

to go

quell those fears, kid.

i’m not here to scare you.

get out of the car

get into the house

and find your favorite band

twice in a row without trying

and you light up.

and reassure me

that i am something

special

or

amazing

(and i’m only now starting to believe it)

water bubbles

birthmarks and slanted toes

imperfections on perfection

but never mind that now.

all i can think about

is stars and snow

bravery and trust

a picasso, arms, legs, torsos, lips

seemingly out of place

we are.

the "emu" kid

and the "country" girl.

linked together by something

we’ll never fully understand.

maybe we weren’t meant to understand.

but i’ll try.

as you sit in the passenger seat,

and i’m driving you home.

you’re home, now.
