The answer to my question.

My dearest readers,

A few days ago I posed this question to you all:

Is OpenDiary the same as keeping a written journal, Or is it different because it is on the Internet?

I’m sure at least a few of you were wondering where that question came from…So here is my explanation:

Ninja came across my diary and called me all mad about what I said about him. He didn’t know how confused I was, apparently. We got into an argument about it. In a very round-about kind of way, nothing happened. Nothing changed. It bothered me so much that he got so mad at it. This is my journal. I get that it is online and everything, but it is still a journal…it’s still personal. And so I re-wrote my front page with a little warning.

My answer is Yes. Yes, OpenDiarys and written journals are exactly the same. The only difference is that anyone can come along and read your opendiary. I get that it is on the internet and everything, but at the same time no one should be allowed to use the information against you. It’s exactly the same as someone coming along, picking up and reading a written journal of yours. You are allowed to have personal thoughts that aren’t for specific people to see, or hear, or know.

That is what my open diary is for me. A containment of thoughts, a way to sort them out. I put it online because I want the feedback. At the same time, though, most people that know me don’t know about it. I keep it hidden from everyone, unless they are super important to me, like Nova, Bryar, Protector, and Ninja. I don’t want to have to hide all of my posts because I really do appreciate the feedback, but sometimes I think it’d be better if I didn’t keep a journal at all.

I’m not going to stop it now, though. No matter what someone says about my writings, I’m going to keep writing. It’s my version of venting.

That’s all for now, readers.

I love you! 😀

I totally agree with everything you said in this entry. If they don’t want to read anything bad about themselves, then they shouldn’t be so damn nosy. Simple as. ryn: Sorry, I didn’t delete that post, I just put it as friends only for a second because one of my friends wanted to read my latest entry, and I didn’t want them to see that I hadn’t written up their note yet. privacy thing! It’s back off private now, and I added you to my friends. 🙂 I totally understand your feelings about motherhood. I’ve been exactly the same for as long as I can remember. It’s the one thing I have ALWAYS been sure that I wanted in my life. 🙂

ryn: That’s okay, hope they’re not giving you a hard time about what they read anymore. Thanks for your note. 🙂 ~Beth & Baby Girl.x

I completely agree. I like that anyone can come along and comment on it (because I like feedback and opendiary is kind of like a support group for me – I support my favourites and my favourites support me). I just hate that one of my friends or family could find this. That’s why I dont post pictures of myself and dont say exactly where I live, nor put my email.
