the pickle

My regular readers might remember my BIL, who got back with a girlfriend for probably the 4th time and they decided to impulsively buy a houseabout three years ago. It was a fight to get it with their average incomes and her horrible credit and a bad time to buy, when houses were priced higher. Thus the house and the car that she was driving were all in his name. See where this is going? We were all against the idea and i nformed him NOT to do this, but he had been dreaming of it for some time. It all seemed as though it would have been OK for a time too. She started her own business in the home and made some good cash off of it, and he worked hard at his job as well. They struggled with the immense mortgage a little as well as the household bills, but were determined.

Then they decided to break up, and it was agreed that she would rent the home for her business for a portion of the mortage and also pay the bills and car payment. BIL never got this on paper, but chose to trust her. For some reason, she decided to STOP paying all of it a couple of months ago and a few months into their spoken deal. She gave him back the car, which he does not mind driving. But he cannot afford to live in the home by himself, a roomie would not pay what he needs, and the value dropped SO much on it that he could not even sell. So he decided on foreclosure. The kicker is that she is still in the house without paying a single bill for it, having parties and living large as it seems from her My Space page. I had to delete that as it infuriated me that she would do that. She even has a new boyfriend to boot. She said that she was moving on 11/1, but hasn’t. This is not my thing, so I say nothing to either of them. I learned yesterday that he is still hanging out with her and now I just give up. I was hoping he would learn some lesson from this, but maybe not.

Quite a pickle, huh?
