the deep pink hues

I have been driving Kooky to school with her being wide awake for a change.   We have been talking up a storm, which is SO nice as she is normally konked out and I kiss her quickly and leave daycare.   We have been talking about Halloween and how much better it is than Christmas, and how she likes ghosts better than Christmas stuff when used to decorate a house.   While her parents run around dark graveyeards at night, she really has NO clue about the reality of it all.   We look at the sky too.   I leave early enough that with the daylight savings in effect, Thre sky is just starting to turn colour with the sunrise.   It has been a gorgeous deep pink, and she watches this the entire drive to school.   I tell her about sunrises and sunsets and fondly remember the sunset on the beach in Mendo.   It is such a beautiful time of day and everything seems well.   I am with the second love of my life just talking, simply and sweetly.

Then I leave her at school and the sun comes all the way up.   It is daylight and I remember.   I remember that FIL has been told that he has had several heart attacks and now had congestive heart failure.   We learned last week.  He was having trouble breathing and went to the doctor.   I KNOW that this is not a death sentence, and I am praying that he makes the necessary changes to his like that the cardiologist tells him to when he goes next week.   Kooky needs a grandpa, and J needs a father.   He smokes and does not eat like a heart patient should, and I hope with everything I have that he changes.   I have been quietly stressed about it for a time now, and mulling it over.   I know it is in his hands.   Pray for me and pray for him.
