So Kooky had another screaming and sobbing fest last night at bedtime and acts like she HATES her room/bed.   J ended up sitting with her in the glider until they were both asleep and I put her to bed and he came to bed.   Normal for a 28 month old?   I don’t know.   I won’t let her sleep with me every time it happens and I don’t know what to do.   She desperately wants one of of in those times and it is the only thing that quiets her and calms her enough to sleep.

I have no clue. Lately when Alex takes baths he won’t sit down like he used to, he just crouches. I’ve tried to sit him down and he yelled about it and stood right back up.

Unfortunately at this age it’s hard to know what’s causing her to freak out. My suggestion would be to go to her when she’s having an obvious freak out (as opposed to just crying because she doesn’t want to go to bed), but don’t take her out of the room. Stay with her and soothe her until she falls asleep. It might take longer, but it will teach her that she is safe in the room and can fall asleepin there. I used to lay on the floor and stroke my son’s head until he calmed down and fell asleep. Funny, my oldest had the freak out about the bath for a very long time out of the blue too. I just let her slowly get back into enjoying baths at her own pace… for a little while I would put on a bathing suit and get in with her.

RYN: Yeah… for about a month starting back in January, he was staying with us because his parents went to OH because of BIL’s grandmother’s passing.

RYN: Yeah, I don’t get it either.

It is a stage. This too will pass. I would help her through it as best you are able. You are doing the right thing by making her sleep in her room but she obviously needs the comfort factor, too.
