My princess had her first ‘school friend’ birthday party today.   I was nervous because I hate talking to other moms.   In that sense, I still don’t feel like a mom at all.   But I rushed us out of the house to make the 30 or so minute drive-J stayed home, of course.   He wants NO part of it-and she slept the whole way.   The party was at a place that has the inflatable things like you see rented much of the time.   A huge slide, a few smaller ones with other stuff, and one where you jump inside.   Kooky woke up to going inside, and was so overwhelmed.   We went into a room to wait, and then were all lead inside of the play room.   Kooky spent a long time having me hold her, and refusing to go into any of the toys.   The other kids and adults had a blast.  A few of her friends from school came, and she ran with them laughing and happy as they went from toy to toy.   Then she would come back to me.   A very nice lady was there who was a neighbour of the birthday girl, and Kooky took a real liking to her.   I would pass her to this lady whose name I have forgotten, and go running up to the big slide again and again.   Kooky was scared watching me!!   But I had a lot of fun, and I learned watching her being so timid and scared that I need to loosen up as well.   I am terrified of heights and the big slide was about 20 feet up.   I did it anyway, and several times after the first time.   I got a bit of a wound on my elbow, but it was all worth it.   We went into the party room for pizza and cake, and Kooky mostly wanted to sit with me rather than with her friends.   Being her first party like that, I understood.   She sat with a boy from her school and she was such a giggling little miss.   They obviously like each other on some level, and he wanted her to go to his house or something afterwards.   She slept on the way home and then upon arrival.
I went then to get my hair cut cleaned up from a few weeks back.   My sis and mom have a new stylist they both love, and she was great.   Curious to see how it washes up in the morning, but I am pleased with the colour and the bright red I dyed it yesterday.   We had his parents and my sis over tonight and ate BBQ and visited.   Fun.   🙂
I am dreaming up where to have Kooky’s school friend party in 6 months.   My nephew’s 10th will be at a bigger than chuck e cheese place next month and I’ll see what that is all about.   But now I know I should have something for her friends to enjoy as well.

Congrats on surviving! My neighbor had a party for her 1yr old and it was just amazing the amount of food she made, her 3 and 5yr old are having parties in July so I wonder how grand they will be! Like you, I don’t really socialise with other Mum’s but in time I suppose that will change if I want it to or not lol. Glad you like the new hair do,amazing what a hair cut and color will do for you.

Parties are hard on young children. George still gets nervous before some of them. He won’t have his own anymore. As for talking to other mothers, I never feel like I fit in. I’m older than most and there are other issues. I socialize for my children’s sake.
