Zombie Night and The Signal Movie Reviews

I’m going to shake off feeling like a loser.

Even if I’m listening to the Evangelion theme song on my mp3 player and loving it.

I have no idea what she is singing.

but I love it.

I wish I knew Japanese.

Anyway, to shake off my feeling like my life is a black hole of stupid, I shall write about the movies I watched.

I’ll start with the dumb one, which was a zombie movie called "Zombie Night"

It was made in 2003 and really, that shouldn’t effect a good (or so bad it’s good) zombie movie!

I am a firm believer that there must be a dab of "cheese" and a lot of disbelief poured on top of a lot of the zombie movies that are made. Zombies, which should be bumbling idiots groaning and knocking things over, should be easy to hear… and yet they are ALWAYS sneaking up on people.

It’s horrible! (I actually have a theory about this… and it makes me want to write a zombie novel. hahahah)

Anyway, this movie COULD have been awesome… but was really just slow an annoying and made me wnat to scream. The acting is not good and the premise is some sort of world war 3… and the fall out from some bomb makes zombies that ONLY COME OUT AT NIGHT and seem to fall into "zombie sleep" and disappear during the day…

It focuses on a group of people trying to survive, but they keep getting picked off by hordes of stupid slow moving zombies they SHOULD be able to get away from, but the zombie touches them with a finger tip and they fall on the ground and get eaten. I’m still not sure how they couldn’t get themselves somewhere safe without letting a hundred zombies into their hide out to EAT THEM. Jeesh!

There is a particular character who keeps sabatoging the group that is trying to survive. Isntead of KILLING HIM… they keep letting him live (hoping the zombies will kill him first) and he ends up coming back and ruin their home base again!

The zombies are … magical. Because you can be in a cleared room and once night falls they seem to morph out of thin air.

I hated that. Like, how can you CLEAR the building… and yet zombies appear as soon as night falls?

There are doors… and yet they don’t even try to close or lock them, they just run and the zombies find them and eat them.

At one point, dozens of people go up this ladder and just as the one of the last guys is going up, a zombie appears out of nowhere and bites him… HOW… THE ROOM WAS EMPTY AND PEOPLE WERE RUNNING IN. No zombies, suddenly… zombie.

horrible.

The acting was horrible.

One woman is laying there withher guts eaten out and she’s still talking.

No bitch, you’d be dead or at least passed out if a zombie ATE YOUR INTESTINES AND THEY WERE TRAILING ALL OVER THE FLOOR.

Ugh, I do not reccomend this movie unless you’re really bored and a super fan of zombie movies. I mean, I know I have a lto of horrible movies to come and I’ll watch themwillingly, but you can let me take the hit if you don’t want to.

it was not good.

i don’t have a rating system yet… hahaha, but I’ll rate it UGH NO! ZOMBIES IN MY TOILET!!!!

yeah.

So the second movie was called "The Signal" made in 2006.

This movie was surprisingly kick ass. The storyline is about a signal being broadcast through cell phones, television, radios… anything that we watch or listen to… and it makes people psychotic and crazy. It has 3 parts. A serious apocalyptic scary first part with good character development… a dark comedic, social commentary driven, crazy middle part… and a climatic story explaining "moment of truth" ending.

I really liked it. I don’t even want to talk about it much because I want people to go see it.

Some elements: a decapitation where the head comes back and talks, "death by pesticides… and the container they are transported in, "DO YOU HAVE THE CRAZY?!", a lunatic new years eve party gone wrong, "I’m gonna grab a slut and pee in her butt", and some really good acting.

i really enjoyed it. I watched it twice (once alone, and once with Baboo) and I’ll probably buy it so I can watch the directors commentary. It has a bunch of cool special features too.

Something I could watch a few times a year and like it every time.

Great film.

Ok, so that one gets a "Watch it or DIE!!!!" rating.

heh.

Anyway, I have half an hour of work left.

I have sufficiently distracted myself from hating my life and how lame I am and I can now focus on getting my ends wrapped up and geting the hell out of here.

Oh, and in case you wondered, my hair went on strike about 2 hours after I got here and I had to braid it up… or look like a raggedy ann doll gone MAD!!!! MAD I SAYYYYY.

it’s horrible.

I need my ends cut so bad.

But I guess it grew, three people commented that it was longer.

Interesting.

Now to chop off  all growth!

muahahahahah.

*sigh*

I wish I was cool.

ryn – I knoow, wah-wah-wah! I guess… I get a bit angsty now and again, because someone close to me once told me that because of my lifestyle choices, I’m going to end up very lonely. And even if I don’t believe it, it makes me freak out sometimes!

The thing with those bottles is that they keep kids from having colic (at least they did with mine)…

Oh but you are cool. (That’s not sayin’ much for the losers is it?)

The Signal was ok until about two thirds through. When it got “goofy” it got bad…quickly. I couldn’t finish it. I’m telling you, track down Dwmons 1 & 2. You won’t be disappointed.

You are cool. Icy chill, in fact…

“I’m gonna grab a slut and pee in her butt” You just don’t hear dialog like that in movies anymore! I’m gonna have to rent it

you ARE cool! and NOT lame!!!!

I love horror movies, but some things I just dont understand. #1- Like you said, how do zombies just appear? Building on that, why are they quiet long enough to sneek up on you, but once you see them they scream like banchees non stop? #2 If a killer is after you and you find a knife, why oh why do you stab said killer then run LEAVING YOU KNIFE IN THE KILLER? Why would you do that? Geeze.

The Signal sounds a lot like Stephen King’s The Cell…

RYN: I love humour in zombie flicks…if done well. It seemed out of place in “The Signal” and I suppose that’s what put me off. In trying to catch the camp aspect of previous undead outings, it loses something.

RYN: Take “Dead Alive” aka “Brain Dead.” That movie is dumb as shit but stays brutally dedicated to the zombie genre. I love zombie movies that have goofy shit in them, even if they’re 90% serious. “The Signal” just switched tones altogether and it irked me a little. Still, each to his/her own, right?
