ryn: That’s all very interesting to me. Someone pointed out that the $8.95 doesn’t cover the server hosting, however I feel that over the years the DM probably could have bought his own servers? Do you think I’m off here? Mainly I feel like all he should need is the website to do the hosting. Very glad Baboo is interested in helping the site survive. I’m not mad at the DM at all, I do getfrustrated with those that are getting all pissy because people have a problem with the communication here. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with wanting a bit of communication. I do wish though that the DM would have been a bit more honest and open. It’s like Hoops says, it’s not about what was said, it’s more about what wasn’t said and I do agree that a lot was left out. And yes, anyone that has been a member here for a decent amount of time spends way more than 3 minutes on this site, those numbers are off severely. The only thing I could think of for that was the people that create those weird advertising diaries. They mostly just come, paste their update and leave, other than that though, who the hell spends 3 minutes on here?

ryn: Regardless if the DM could have bought his own servers or not, I think the costs are off. I think that there is a lot of things that aren’t adding up and I wish he would respond to people that have offered to help. If Baboo gets a response will you let me know? I’m curious if he can get more information from the DM.

ryn: According to the info my brother just dug up on OD, Bruce is definitely making more than $200 in revenue off the site each month, unless the bulk of the 2400 people with memberships are OD+ lifetime members, which he isn’t making any money off. I’m feeling really pissed off now, because I feel lied to. I feel like if he somehow is getting charged the costs he’s claiming, he isn’t doing his due diligence to be getting the best deal possible. Secondly I am upset that he’s OK with letting the site slide instead of communicating with the people that have an interest in keeping the site going and maintaining it more frequently. Thirdly, where is he hosting the site that it goes down every couple of months? From what I can tell, most of the people that host from dreamhost don’t have these issues. *sigh* I almost wish I would have kept myself in the dark instead of looking into this further. I’m really disappointed now.

ryn: Agreed. I mean there are enough people that even if they aren’t tech savvy, they have someone in their life that is that will help them investigate things. The fact that he is outright not being honest or doing what he needs to do to cut costs has me absolutely disgusted. My brother thinks that Bruce is actually trying hoping his update will cause more people to buy memberships to save the site so he can make more money. Whatever the case, that’s not the way to do it. Honesty is always best and he isn’t being honest. I am really sad right now, sad for everyone that thinks the DM is such a great guy for giving us an actual update months after he should have. Everyone is busy, time is money to everyone, but as one person pointed out, the fact that he can’t find 5 minutes a month to post a quick monthly update isn’t right.
