Walking Dead Season 2 Premiere: My thoughts
OK, so this has spoilers. You’re warned. Go away if you don’t want to read them, but come back later if you do… ha ha.
First, I was really excited to watch it on the premiere night. I’m a big DVR person and I would probably have waited untilt his weekend to watch, but I wanted to be "in the discussion"… and then I am not sure if anyone is discussing it. lol. I’ll probably post a thing on my website too.
Second, last season I did a lot of critical viewing of the show and it made me mad because of some really blatantly weird things that happened. I vowed to be less of that and enjoy it more, but I can’t help but pick SOME things apart.
And finally: My thoughts.
FIRST… I thought the opening was a teensy bit confusing because I had to remember who he was talking to. Then I remembered the guy with the son he was with in the beginning, but they could have done better reintroducing that since it’s been a freaking YEAR.
Second, when they all broke down and the one chick (I’m terrible with names, ok) was like "this is a grave yard, i don’t like this" or whatever, I wanted to pop her over the head. All that abandoned stuff and you just want to leave it there? I think she got over it, but jeesh. And how she scolded that woman for looking at clothes, oh shut up, let the crazy short haired woman have a moment (even though later, I wish she had just gotten eaten.) lol.
So then, when the zombie mob comes by, that part was awesome and aggravating all at once! I think the tension and their method of getting under the cars and being still was epic. i loved that!
HOWEVER, what the hell!!?!! They had NO PLAN of action for a situation like that and everyone was just expected to fend for themselves. Like the black guy who got his arm ripped open, I mean HONESTLY, what the hell? I did like how the country boy saved his life, that was sorta cool, but HONESTLY, that made me cringe with ugh. I mean, they didn’t see them coming until they were right on top of them and everyone was so scattered that some people didn’t even know they were there? Insanity!
And then that stupid little girl moving too quickly was just the last straw. Sure, it prompted the following story, but JIMINY, don’t you think you’d have told the kids something like "when we are near zombies you don’t MOVE until you are given the signal" or SOMETHING?!
Bah, I hope she gets eaten, little brat.
I’m terrible.
And then the blonde chick who just "wants to die" is stupid and should just have let the zombie in the bathroom eat her face then. lol. I mean, she was SAFE and had to keep fiddling with a gun she had no idea how to put together. What an ultra maroon. Also, she could have paid a little bit more attention to her surroundings and then slowly closed the damn motorhome DOOR and not even been in that situation. Idiot!!!! I also don’t know why the guy on the roof wouldn’t have just, I dunno alled down through the bathroom to get her to freakin close the door or SOMETHING. That whole scene made me frustrated. ha ha!
All I know is how I would have done it differently. ANY group of survivors with ME would have clear instructions on what to do in MOST zombie encounters. Signals, tactics, and codes would be in place for EVERYONE. And we most certainly wouldn’t be scavenging through a bunch of cars all willy nilly. It would be a controlled organized effort… And there would never have been a moment without someone on look out. And there would NEVER be a chance for a little boy to put his life in danger by going into a car with a dead body. No! I don’t care how he wants to "be a man" he’s a damn kid and needs to be protected. Go sort cans kid, leave the car searches to adults with WEAPONS and common damn sense. I’m glad that thing was still dead. What a mess.
I really enjoyed the episode though. The things that drove me crazy were NOT as bad as the first season (which was just crazy stuff, like they had an armor system to beat up the zombies and then took it off and never used it again… WHY?! And the whole "He’s in the hospital with the door closed and a gurny in front of it and one bag of iv fluids and he survives who knows how long like that… i didn’t buy that for a second, amongst other things like how they could just be camping out in the woods with no perimeter and survive for so long til the end when the zombies finally found them, blah! I’m reall picky on that stuff.)…
So I’m hoping the writing has just improved over the time. I am digging this new season, even though the end of the first episode has my head spinning. What the hell!!!! And don’t get me wrong, I loved the first season too! It’s just a love hate because I’m an enthusiast and a writer and I think I could create a compelling awesome series too!
Anyway, I’m looking forward to every sunday night now. I think it’s going to be an amazing ride 🙂

I enjoyed it but had major issues with the first episode. I hope they thicken out the plot, give us some exposition and definitely utilize some of the amazing thrills that were in the comic books.

The whole time I was watching it, I was thinking “Would Kat do that?” LOL I liked it just fine though. I was mad with the way they ended it though. That kid was just being a kid and yeah… I honestly hope they don’t kill him off. That would make me mad. *shrugs* Overall I enjoyed it though. I kinda like the country guy with all the tracking and shooting skills. He is awesome.

I liked it too, I was hooked after the first episode last season. It could be a lot better, they need more character development, kinda like “lost” gives you a little back story and makes you care about them. Wish you were a writer for the show.

YES! I don’t care if it’s a zombie apocolypse or a freaking warzone- scavenging the dead (particularly people not in “your” group) has been around since there’s been people. Be as respectful as you please, fine, but they’re DEAD. They don’t need it anymore! BOTH of those brats should’ve been parked at the camper. I could go on, but it seems we’re pretty much on the same page. 🙂

I think I have to agree with you on all points here… like the wife all of a sudden having morals? This is a graveyard? In the first season she was not happy with her husband b/c he wanted to go save everyone…which is why she was attracted to the other cop b/c he was like screw it, save ourselves… and now all of a sudden, she cares about the dead? Dont bye it… and yeah the stupid blonde who wants to die… either contribute to the survival of the group or get out. period. and I dont want to see any love relationship develop between the suicidal blonde and the rejected cop. ugh… anyhow, those are my 2 cents lol

hs would definitely make an awesome tv or movie series! i love reading your spoilers though because actually, watchin walking dead scares the bejeesus out of me but i love it. i have it DVRd to watch at the weekend because i don’t want to watch it too close to bedtime (i’ll be up worrying about how we have a glass panel in the front door and zombies could break that easily).

i love the show…its the only zombie stuff I have been into thus far…Who knows maybe I’ll evolve into a zombie addict. Shrugs. Perhaps, so as i started playing Residential Evil 5 on my PS3…

RYN: Yes I like that I have no kids, a spouse or animals that I have to account for, It is just nice to get a mood and follow it wherever it takes me. The flip side of course is that there are moments when the solitude makes you feel a bit mad. 🙂 Actually, I have a love for the cuddly vampire 😉

Oddly enough, we were angry at all the same areas… Jami and I were literally yelling at the TV, I don’t think the housemates knew what was going on in our room. Some weird sex with the use of the word ‘zombie’ a lot? Who knows.

So obviously… if this planet is ever taken over by Zombies, the first place I’m headed is to CA to find you. I WILL SURVIVE!!

My boyfriend loves that show. I’m kind of indifferent to zombies. *shrug*

When that little boy was in the car with the dead body I was SO waiting for it to turn and grab him or something. 😛 I love the redneck by the way. 😛 And I’m wicked surprised that one guy didn’t just bleed out in the middle of the road with how badly he sliced his arm open.

I remember what I was going to share with you. The history channel is going to be showing a program called “the history of zombies” I believe it’s on the 28th.

I totally agree. Me and Laura were shouting at the woman in the RV the whole freakin time!! And yea, it kinda pissed me off about the black guy surviving or at least being just fine the next time we saw him. From what I saw he lost ALOT of blood. Not realistic. I did remember who he was talking to tho, thank god. We also downloaded the whole first season and watched the last episode to re-familiarize ourselves with it. That, and I wanna watch it over again lol. 🙂 <3
