I’m a vampire milk shake

No toilets in this entry.

No tears either.

Instead, a rant.

about what?

MY EM EFFING BLOOD SUGAR.

Oh it just can’t be serious!!!

I ate:

A small piece of tri tip, may the size of a quarter of my fist

A bag of baby carrots (no italian dressing)

a string cheese

No sugar orange jello

and my blood sugar was 173.

what the FUCK?!

It’s supposed to be 120 or less.

BUT NOOO 173, after eating veritably NOTHING WITH CARBS IN IT.

I hate my life.

I can’t even look at food now. I wish I wasn’t pregnant, because you bet your butt I just wouldn’t eat shit. (not that I ever actually eat shit, but… I would eat NOTHING, har har)

I’m tired of it. I’m tired of thinking really hard about what I’m eating and trying to be good and carefully measuring and planning and plotting and planning only to have my blood betray me.

stupid blood.

All sugary and mean for no reason.

I HATE YOU.

I guess if a vampire wanted me, I’d be a damn sugarfied milkshake or something.

blah!

Oh yeah, I have a ticker. Look at that!

you know on my last visit to dr’s i was what they call pre-diabetic, so i know what you mean. I obviously don’t have the issue you are having, but it certainly makes you look at food very differently. I really hope you find a happy middle with all this… best wishes…

Well, 173 isn’t going to do any damage to you. My old roommate used to take a walk or jump rope when her sugar got too high. I don’t know if you can jump rope when you are pregnant, I imagine you don’t want to! But walking seemed to help her.

*points to the cheese* He did it! ;p

Carrots have a high sugar level? *shrug* I have no clue.

First off, you just scared the shit out of me! I am way overprotective of you and nugget. I was anywho, but even more so now. I saw vampire and went straight to blood. Ok, ok, back to reading now that my freak out is over. Im just not stable right now.

Calm down, you are doing a great job with this. Call your doctor and yell at him. See if they have any suggestions.

it was probably the carrots, they do have a higher concentration of carbs and starches than a lot of other vegetables. Not as bad as potatoes, but I would suggest avoiding them if you are watching your carb intake

Yeah carrots do have a lot of sugar in them. But who knows. Diabetes sounds like a hard thing to make a whole lot of sense with, seems like it takes a lot of work to develop a routine and get the foods right.

Yeah, carrots turn to sugar when digested. Kind of strange since everyone that is “dieting” eats carrots and celery as if they’re pretending they’re candy. Your body treats carrots like they’re candy. Usually it wouldn’t affect your blood sugar too much if you ate them in moderation, but you have gestational diabetes which can be more of a bitch than regular diabetes. I’m not sure that’s the causeof the raise in blood sugar because some studies show carrots as bad for people with diabetes and some studies show it’s not really that big of a problem. One thing I do know is that you are supposed to eat protein with carbs… complex carbs of course, but with carbs.

I was watching this show, and the lady had gestational diabetes, and she said that walking 20 minutes after all meals (not snacks) helped lower her after meal blood sugar. Maybe it’s worth a shot. Sorry you have to deal with all this *hugs*

The carrots. High sugar level.

Idk about GD but normally your sugar WILL be higher after eating, its just a fact. The only real number that counts is the one in the morning before you`ve eaten. Other than that anything in moderation should be fine. carrots and corn are high in sugar. Be leary of them. Google SugarBusters diet, its a diet suited for diabetics and some things may surprise you. prepackaged things also tend to have “hidden sugar” also. cinnamon is

A natural sugar regulator. There are others, if you dont like that. Google it. Cinnamon just happens to be my favorite.

ryn: thank you 🙂

So, as others readers have stated, exercise of course is good for diabetics because it speeds up the metabolism and helps your body burn off the sugars you eat. but I know you have been really tired and that you already have kids to take care of. Sometimes there are no reason for high blood sugar, it just is, especially when you are prego. But try to eat 6 small meals a day instead of 2 or 3 because it keeps your metabolism constantly moving. *hugs*

Hugs. Some things can be really contrary. Lol about the you would never actually eat shit thing.

February 6, 2012

probably takes some time for it to drop. Maybe

I don’t understand that at all. Man that has to suck. I’m sorry girl.

O.O I didn’t think carrots could do that to you! Is there anything your nutritionist gave you to try for snacks or meals? (That isn’t gross, lol)

Just ran across your comment on the “You are what you eat” from Reader’s Circle, and I have to say, you are my hero. We’ve all passed judgement, and I can’t say those same thoughts the writer had hasn’t crossed through my mind before (being a cashier for 3.5 years), but it is noteworthy to try to be open to the big picture.

February 7, 2012

Wow, that is crazy.

February 8, 2012

i would guess the carrots. but damn, you can’t just have steak all the time!
