Stay strong. I know it’s tough but if anyone can do it, you can. RYN: thank you so much. You are such a wonderful friend. I love you so hard.

my cousin sends her kids to connection academy and loves it (its online but they get so much money towards field trips and i think she even said they got a free laptop). its only a few hours each day too (that is why she picked it). her kids are in 3 and 5th grade.

Been exactly here. At some point (and I’m not saying it’s ‘now’ for your kid) they have to decide for themselves whether or not they’re going to flunk out and be total losers in life. We can delay that decision for them for days or months or years, but eventually they have to make it. When they do, the outcome is neither our victory nor our fault. Hang in there.

Homeschooling’s tough. Especially if you’re already having discipline issues. Don’t try to hit the problem head on. You can’t teach him against his will. Work around the problem. Get creating. You have to get him on board somehow. Entice him. Make it a game. Change tactics. You know your son better than anyone. Appeal to him.

Um…Get creative. Not creating.

He’s very smart, is there any way to get him in a different school into some sort of accelerated program for smart kids where he’d be stimulated and challenged enough to put effort into it? Just seems like a shame there isn’t a proper environment for him to thrive in.
