Free Shoes and Movie Reviews

I was talking to a co worker when I got a call from my sons school. I was instantly terrified. It can NEVER be something good when the school calls.

I have it set up to say "stupid school calling" on my caller ID and it always makes me want to r un away from the phone.

But i picked it up, knowing I was gonna hear something bad.

She proceeded to say she was calling about Jacob. At that moment I was sure he had fallen and broken, cracked, snapped, bruised, or injured SOMETHING and I was going to have to go pick him up. Or have Baboo pick him up since he’s at home.

She must have heard the dread in my voice because she said, "Oh don’t worry, it’s for something good!"

My co worker bust out laughing at the obvious relief all over my face as she told me that Jacob had been put into a raffle for free shoes and he had won! She went on to say that she usually keeps a slot open for siblings, and since he has one (jonathon) then he gets some free shoes too!

WAHOO!

I was just going to have to go buy shoes this upcoming weekend and now I don’t have to!

Can I get a WOOT WOOT!!!

I truly get blessed at the most amazing times.

Personally, I know my children just look raggedy and sad and they "win raffles" (aka get given free stuff cuz they look pitiful) all the time. I am by no means Ms. Richy Rich, so I take it when it comes! Thanks school!

Now, on to the movies Baboo and I watched over this weekend.

1. Surrogates: I like and disliked this movie. I thought it had an interesting premise and a good look… but something about the ending bugged me and I don’t know why. I wouldn’t buy the dvd, but netflixing it won’t hurt anyone. I give it 6 out of 10.

2.Angels and Demons: We were gonna watch Gamer, but the download that Baboo got didn’t have any SOUND. I was very sad about this. I was a bit distracted while watching Angels and Demons. I was drinking and it was like "wahtever is whatever" and I watched about 90% of it and zoned out on Facebook for the other 10… so my review isn’t that great. I do say that the twist at the end was nice, and I’d give it 7 out of 10.

3. Drag me to Hell: Ummm… what to say about this movie. It started out with promise and quickly spiraled into madness. it had some entertaining moments of gore and weirdness, but otherwise it was just pretty lame and when it was over I was just like "really?!"

bah!!! 4 out  of 10. Wait till it comes on cable.

4. Burn after Reading: I really wanted to like this movie, but it was so excruciatingly SLOW that the few moments of goodness (mainly the scenes with Brad Pitt, who was hilaaaaarious) were quickly engulfed by boredom and confusion. And the moment where it seemed to climax (I won’t talk about it cuz you might not have seen it, and it took me by UTTER SURPRISE and it should do the same for you, and it won’t if I tell you) made me pay a little more attention, but when it was over I was like "riiiiiiight" and I sorta wanted to rewind time and decide to NOT watch it anymore. I’ll give it 5 out of 10, just for Brad Pitt being freakin awesome.

Yep, that’s my movie reviews.

eat them.

lick t hem.

love them.

Meanwhile, I’m having a hard time getting into my "work groove"… I keep forgetting what in the heck I’m supposed to be doing! bah!

Ugh. Now my stomach hurts. I got a call from some collections agency regarding assfacefromhells car. You know, the douche who has been out of contact for over 4 years who I’m trying to divorce so I can move on with my life. The lady just left a muffled weird message, and I’m not calling back. Let them take me to court. It will actually feel GOOD to get in front of a judge and plead my damn case. I bet a judge would have mercy on me!

it’s looking more and more like I’ll have to file bankruptcy to just be out from under all this.

I don’t really want to lose the car I’m currently paying for, but everything I’ve read about bankruptcy says that you lose everything, even things you are currently paying for.

I don’t know what to do.

i really hope I don’t have to hire yet ANOTHER lawyer.

ugh.

it makes my head hurt.

a lot.

i need a spicy chicken bowl.

Burn After Reading was oddly about nothing. i really have no positive or negative thoughts about it.

COME ON! Drag Me to Hell was awesome!!! You are not a Sam Raimi fan I take it? It was totally in the style of the Evil Dead Trilogy!! I loved it!!! Angels and Demons was ok, better than the Da Vinci Code, even still the Books are better than the movies, the movies leave out soo much. Have you seen Pandorum? I saw that this past weekend and LOVED it.

Yay for free shoes! My friend does that for a school she works for & she gets me free shoes too… which my kids probably look just like yours. maybe you should call that lady back and start harrassing HER for contact info on your ex… 🙂

I thought Drag Me to Hell was great!

Niiice, shoes! I once won a dvd player in a raffle. That made my life. Haha! Aww, I loved Burn After Reading! Brad was for sure the bestpart, though!

Yay for free shoes! I remember when I was in third grade my teacher gave me a pair of her old Reeboks because my shoes were all ratty. It was kind of embarrassing, but she did it where no one else knew, and I knew she just cared about me. She was my favorite teacher.

“Drag Me to Hell” is a great, great film; real old school campy horror. Avoid “Gamer.” I watched it with sound and had to turn it off about halfway through…it’s that shit.

Yay for free shoes. 🙂 since u were gonna have to buy some. Lol. I like how they have a sibling slot. Eeeek!!! Hehe. God, u guys did lots of movie watchins!!! Haha.

I agree with the minority, I loved Drag Me To Hell. It does help if you like The Evil Dead movies and know this going in, though. Burn After Reading should just be a montage of the Brad Pitt clips. Holy yay for free shoes!!

Where are these Spicy Chicken Bowls from? I need to know! I want one… Lol

You don’t have to lose everything when you file bankrupcy, only when you file chapter 7. Look into chapter 13, which is what Don is filing. We are keeping our car, etc.

January 25, 2010

Woot, woot!! Free shoes. I shop at payless for shoes so this would have been right up my alley.

I have to tell you that when I was watching Burn After Reading, my daughter walked into the living room exactly at the moment of that surprise that you talk about… (the horrible part, right?)…. Kahlan’s face was frozen in shock – and I was horrified… I would have never watched that movie when she was awake if I knew that was going to happen — she was really upset by it.. I turned it off at

January 25, 2010

That was a pretty good update. Right on! (for winning kids shoes) I’d love to win that one.

January 25, 2010

that point and never bothered to finish it.. I know some people let their kids watch that stuff – but I don’t, so it was a complete shock to Kahlan and I had reassure her over and over and over again that it was just pretend…

burn after reading was great! 😛 Chris

Ugh. That sucks you are in that position. I hope there is some way you can get it figured out. Hooray on the shoes for the boys.

January 25, 2010

HUGS about the collections agency, and good news about the free shoes! 🙂 (Yeah, I’d take ’em too if they were offered out of winnings like that!) My niece and her boyfriend were talking about that movie Gamer today, and they’d showed us the previews for it. So sounds like a pretty creepy movie, from the way she’d explained it to me!

Bankruptcy is an option that people should avoid whenever possible, so it makes sense that it would suck,
