Im Back!
Sorry to have been gone so long, but when my training ended in June I moved to a new city, started a new position and have been saving enough money to get my sorry butt back online! I missed you all immensely and I promise to catch up on your entries.
My new position, in addition to my usual work in ER, requires that I manage patients in severe respiratory failure. Some are so ill from natural disease processes, some from the traumas of accidents, but all have grave difficulty breathing on their own, so I medically manage a Ventilator Unit. Its a different situation for me now, because Im not training anymore, and along with the other consultant I have the final say on how these patients are treated. Its scary, rewarding, heart breaking and invigorating all at once. I have many interesting stories to tell about interacting with these patients, some funny, others sad, but all are touching in some way.
Thanks for all the notes asking me to write again. You know, there were times when I thought my writing made no real difference to anyone but me, but I see now that I have touched you all in some way, and Im grateful for your support and encouragement.

Have missed you, Rob, and look forward to hearing your new stories … whenever you find time! Congratulations on your new position. Heartbreaking, thrilling, full of decisions, and all of them important — I can’t think of a better man for the job. Physician. Priest. Poet. Storyteller. Bless your big, gracious heart!
