Is that an end? I don’t know!
So we got an apartment nailed down in our old complex down in Oregon. I’m so happy to be going back there. It really felt like home.
I asked my dad if there was any overlap from when the apartment is available and when we get there if we could stay with him for say at tops 4 or 5 days. That’s it.
He told me not only no but that between now and when he moves he doesn’t want any house guests.
I don’t know if he’s on the verge of cutting ties with us completely or what but it’s feeling like that. Since Christmas he’s called us maybe 4 times. Before that he would call multiple times a week. He doesn’t text anymore. Nothing. He’s putting his house on the market the week of my birthday.
I don’t know if there’s much more that could be a complete “fuck you” to me but he seems like he’s planning to check all that boxes for sure.
I can’t let his feelings rain on our sunshine. Caroline has asked us once we get back to Oregon if we can not move anymore unless we buy a house in Oregon. She’s done moving. That’s her home and she’s so ready to be back. I’m so happy we can give that to her. <3
TAing has been great this first week. Ask me in 9 weeks if I still think it’s great. Some students seem to actually read the syllabus and some seem like they bring their big wheels to a NASCAR race when it comes to having read the expectations and even the instructions for each assignment. Oh well, I give the guidance I can and move on.
Okay, I just felt like writing but don’t feel like I have enough time to devote to really writing so maybe soon…..we’ll see.
Hi, random reader here. I am sorry about the situation with your dad. 🙁 It sucks to have someone in your family sort of cut you out like that. Not sure what the situation is, but I feel like he’ll regret it one day. Maybe have a talk with him about it?
I love Oregon. My best friend lives there, and if my husband didn’t think it was too cold (he moved from Jersey to California and never wants to deal with snow again…), maybe we’d move there. Haha.

Usually we don’t get a lot of snow but the last couple of years it has definitely been more than usual. But the views in Oregon sure make up for the snow that comes around. My in-laws live in Cali so I know how hard it can be for someone used to Cali to consider the grey and rain of the PNW. 🙂
@carolinabound I know, my 4-day weekend in Oregon, when my best friend moved there, was straight magical. She took me to all of these ridiculous waterfalls and the eerie beach lol and a cheese factory… And we partied in Portland. I mean, I loved it. It was rainy and cold, but we had the right gear, so we just kept doing stuff. I grew up around waterfalls in Brazil, so it was so amazing to see them again. On that trip, though, my husband decided Oregon is too cold for him… He moved here from Jersey because he hates the cold with a passion. Our agreement is, and I came up with it: we will never live somewhere if one of us is miserable there. Also, I am the one who’s changed. Being from Brazil, and growing up in Florida, I always had my heater on here in southern cali lol even in, like, June. But now I appreciate the cold too, and I miss the rain so much, since we rarely get it here. Anyway, I hope one day he reconsiders, but I do love California, so for now, it’s ok. I’ll just visit my bestie a lot. Haha.
