As Darkness Falls

As the night grew closer still,

She sits aside the grave so still,
Her skin as pale as the haunting moon,
And hair as black as a Raven’s gloom.

Alone she sits with a smile so dear,
Her lips as read as the blood flowing through her veins,
Her delicate skin as porcelain remains,
Awaiting the coming of her dear friend.

The wind prevails in this lonely night,
As our dear girl rocks back and forth,
On a tomb of a forgotten soul.

Her wrist lie drenched,
And at her sides she rests them,
As the blood pours to the ground below.

She smiles so gently,
At the passing shadows,
Those she wishes to be just going through the meadow,
Weary she’s been of the life she’s led,
And now only begs for death to take her away.

So silent, so still,
As if the pain were not to be real,
She bends forth and begins to write,
With her bloody finger on the tomb that night,
A heart she draws on that forgotten soul,
A kind gesture,
For something that has been left alone.

Under the heart,
With beautiful writing,
She wrote these words,

“Dear soul whom the world has forgotten,
Fear not the loneliness you’ve gotten,
For I will lie here next to you,
In hopes I can befriend you,
I too have lost hope in one day being loved,
And my heart aches at the past long gone,
By your side I will lie,
Until the reaper reaches my life.”

Once done the girl lies down,
Broken and battered from the heartache inside,
The blood no longer drips her hands,
Embracing the night,
She smiles one last time,
As her heart beats,
Then seizes to be.

Sweet girl,
Rest now,
For a child of night you’ve become,
As a shadow you’ll walk,
There will be no more hurt inside,
So be still and silent,
As death grasps your soul,
For that gesture you’ve done,
Many will know.

Hey there, just browsing through journals and your’s caught my eye. I really liked this poem. Your writing is very unique. I think my favorite line from this one is, “So silent, so still, As if the pain were not to be real,” I’ll be putting up some of my poems and what nots, so feel free to critique them. 🙂
