Suspicious LJ Member

On Labor Day, 2007, I posted an entry about Fussy’s death and bad luck with hamsters at OD and Livejournal, and the very next day, I find an attacking comment by a new LJ member, Sunfist_fantasy.

Feeling offended and upset, I posted a reply:

First of all, I am not accepting your apology, because you definitely don’t mean it.  If you had, you wouldn’t have given the so-called "advice," which as an attack and rub-in, and I had said, "Don’t rub it in!"  So-called friend is what you are, to be exact! I don’t need rub-ins of my evilness and irresponsibility: knowing about them is enough.

Just to let you know, I do not take well to lies and false accusations, and you have just made some at me.  I do not use animals for fun.  Where in my entry did I say, "My fun is over.  I use animals for fun?" I get pets because I like their company, and they become my family.  How do you think I felt when I found my hamsters dead? You think I was laughing with joy! Did I say that I was glad they’re gone!

Since you made some very offending false accusations, I’m going to say the following to you: you are probably the type who uses animals for fun, or you wouldn’t have been lying about me on it.

I’m sorry about my reply.  I really hate to make attacks, insults, and lies, but that’s what people get when they offend me.

I also took the member off the LJ Friends list.  The next day, he or she deleted the comment, and the reply was:

ok ok my bad…

i didnt mean to be offensive… I know its hard to lose pet.. srry but I think that was 5th with same ending..

I figured this person either didn’t read the whole entry clearly, or had little knowledge on hamsters.  I explained how long I had each pet and gave some information on hamsters.  I also described how to point out mistakes or complain politely, without insulting and attacking others.  Finally, I informed him or her that if they don’t know much about something, they should ask and learn about it, or just not say anything.  This is the response I received:

ooooohhhh my gooood!!!!!!

"go to hell" … this quote has a long history… Early civilizations in europe beleived that after death people go to heaven, so the were happy to die. When nearby Barbarian started to attack them for food and land, they still wanted to die so they can go to heaven. To save this civilazation, ‘spritual leaders’ created this illusion of called ‘hell'(i dont think agnostics believe in hell..lol).. where u go if u do some thing that other think is not good for civilization….

Ok I agree i dont have that much knowledge of hamsters and small pets.. but i think… ok forget it we are debating about something i dont know…. so if u will say first letter in alphabet is A is would say Z…lol

Well, it doesn’t change the fact that he or she was attacking me.  Besides, he or she was off the point.  History and origins of words or quotes have nothing much to do with the subject.  What mattered was the purpose and definitions of the words.  I realized this person was just trying to show off and refusing to admit his or her evil intentions, so I blocked the LJ username from making comments in my account.

The next day, I checked to discover the account of sunfist_fantasy deleted.  That person had probably signed up at LJ to stalk and bother people, including me.  However, he or she could no longer do that when I banned the username, so with nothing to do, he or she deleted the account.  Another possibility could be that he or she got in trouble, so the LJ staff terminated the account.  That member could still leave anonymous comments, but I have set my account to reject anonymous comments since the beginning.  This does not mean I can let my guard down: he or she could create a new LJ account to post comments.

I did feel suspicious about that member since his or her first few comments.  First, he or she asked for my real name, which didn’t sound right.  When I said that I am not comfortable giving it out in public, I received this reply:

Nice.. i learn new thing… ‘dont reveal ur name in public’.. thank Guru..lol.. so i m deleting post with my name…

I thought, "Weren’t you supposed to know that already?"

For my entry about recently buying plants, I received some jokes that did seem somewhat stupid, rude, and falsely assuming:

carnivorous plants!!!!…. its good u rnt adding animals.. or u will have croc.s and big cats around…lol

These comments made me feel uneasy about that member.  They were all comments we wouldn’t make when we have just met someone.  I just hope I don’t have to put up with that person again.
